Any Brits ever watched Room 101 with Paul Merton? This is the thread where we do that.

Anyone who hasn't seen room 101, it's a comedy chat show where Paul Merton asks celebrities to name 5 things they want to get rid of (eg traffic wardens, motorway service stations etc). It's pretty funny.

My 5 to start:

Coffee. Coffee is rubbish. It's a rubbish drink. Why? Because people drink it for one reason: caffeine. Nobody really likes coffee, they drink it to wake up in the morning or stay awake at night, right? But that's rubbish. It's very rubbish. Because there's far more caffeine in a cup of tea. And tea tastes one helluva lot better. So coffee's only use is obsolete. It's useless. Rubbish. And it's a painus in the anus to spell coffee. Also, latte is for sissies.

haX0rz (hacksaws?). Y'know, the ones that spend all day coding their latest one thousand one hundred and thirty seven virus that makes your computer blow up. Also spyware blockers that say they're free, then find two million serious spywares and say you have to pay for it to clean them out. So it's not free, is it? So why did you say it was free? Now I've wasted twenty minutes.

Hugh Grant. Or rather, every film he's ever been in ever. Especially the ones that make fat or stupid people want to come to Britain, because they think the whole country's like the film Notting Hill http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif.

Naff sequels. Look at the Matrix, the first film was awsome, but 2 and 3 were two of the worst films I've seen in a long time. The Wacky-Mouse-Skis or whatever they're called got stupid, and started doing loads of 'epic' bits. It's like the said 'Right, we wan this to be an epic trilogy.' then got what epic means completely wrong. It just ended up being really bad. And Keanu Reaves can't act. I've seen less wooden planks of 2 by 4.

People who rip off other people's music. I mean, does Eminem really have so little musical talent that he needs to steal the riff from Kashmir by Led Zeppelin for his movie soundtrack (8 miles, or something like that)? Why does he need to do that? And if you're going to steal one of the most awsome riffs in rock, please don't put it in something so awful as 8 miles by Eminem (is he chocolate, or peanut, by the way?). That ruined the rif***e for ever. And it happens all the time as well. Go get some talent, don't leach others' like a... leach! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

"Reality TV" ... the mother of all rubbish. The participants KNOW they're being filmed, so how do you expect it to be reality? They're gonna act in a way that portrays them to be someone they're not, which makes them look even more stupid than they probably already are.

Dieting .... Rubbish as well. You eat healthy, stick to a strict diet of eating like a rabbit, you're miserable your entire life because your precious diet prevents you from eating delicious tasting food, but you still die anyway. Remaking classic horror movies ... yep ... rubbish. Psycho, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Night of the Living Dead. Seeing modern actors and actresses try to re enact the scenes from the originals makes for a good laugh, not a good scare.

Spyware: Its the worst thing on earth. Its in every programm, and when you remove it, it disables the programm it infected! I would love to lynch its inventor.

At least roads on the mainland are well-repaired, DH. Here, the Manx DoT does ours. Douglas promenade is like a patchwork quilt, and you have to get your car's suspension done almost twice as often as on the mainland, it's so bumpy on our roads.

Terrax: great list. We have the original reality TV show running a series over here now, it's called 'Big Brother'. Instead of a warning from history about totalitarianism, big brother is now a game show. Great. But worse is when all your friends are talking about the damn things. There's only so many times you can listen then quip: 'You actually watch that rubbish?' before you start to feel your brain cells comitting hara kiri.

EA makes **** games. What they do is use their big name and purchase big name titles (like taking over the command and conquer series) and then half *** the work and put out an overall crappy game that sells like crazy just because of the big name game and because EA has their name on the side. It is pathetic.

Harry Potter games - horrible, awesome sales (even the newest one which got the worst reviews of them all)

The Sims - the original was good but they made a million sequels and tons of "deluxe editions" that are all **** and sold like crazy

Medal of Honor - Allied Assault was good but all console versions of MoH and the second expansion for Moh:AA on pc all sucked but got great sales

Madden, NCAA, NHL, NBA Live, Tiger Woods - Ea has at least the next five years planned out for their games. They add "little things" to "touch up the game" and thats it. Wow, they added a hit stick in the newest version of Madden. And this wasn't in last years WHY? Oh yeah, because they planned it that way. By adding a couple little things it makes the same old game look new and improved when they could have easily done it to last years version. But, of course, amazing sales.

Other movie spin offs - Such as catwoman. It will probably get good sales even though the game sucks big nuts. Also, every single bond game they have made sucks and yet they continuously generate major sales from it just because of the name. Also, look at the LotR games. Sure, some people like them, but overall they are **** compared to other hack and slash games. The graphics are HORRIBLE and the action is sub par. They only sell well because of the name.

They made tons of unneccesary expansions and made craploads of money off them. The expansion are absolutely worthless and you can get more from the free mods online then you can get from an EA expansion.

They made tons of spin offs off of a game that was actually good. Such as battlefield 1942. It was a great game. But they made one decent expansion and one horrible one. Then they made Battlefield vietnam which is only sub-par. They are probably making an as yet unnannounced expansion for it that will sell like crazy but will really suck. They are also making Battlefield 2 AND Battlefield: Modern Combat at the same time just like they are making The Sims 2 AND the URBZ at the same time. Same stuff, slight differences, sub par content, yet they will all generate amazing sales.

Basically, EA is a gaming industry giant that shouldn't be. What has happened is that they get such great sales - and they know they do - that they have stopped putting effort into making original quality games. Now, they just make cheap spin offs. EA is pathetic and should be put out of business.

Yes, silence of the lambs is the "sequel" to manhunter. But really, they aren't related that much. Manhunter really sucked, IMO. And silence of the lambs had completely different everything. Different writer, different director, different actors, etc. Everything was changed, and, obviously, for the better.

lotr the gam,es were excellet, the battle for middle earth will be much better than the war of the ring.

i think it was a samrt decision to make bf2 and moder combat. see, not everyone has a super mage ultra hyper computer, thats why they are making it for consoles. and bf1942 was cool, the secret wepons expansion was great. they are not maikng an expansion for vietnam, it will be a patch and a ww2 mod.

its the same thing with sims2 and urbz as with bf2 and modern combat.

catwoman game will be muich better (still bad i bet) than the movie.

i dont agree with u saying ea is patetic. they obvioulsy sell good cause they make good games (moh, bf, etc) and maybe smaller kids like to play hairy pothead.

No, they sell good because of their big name. If you compare their half *** games to games that sell half as well you will find that there are a TON of quality games that are twice as good as the **** that EA makes.

Like I said, they occassionally make a good game like MOH of Battlefield but then they monopolize on it by pumping out WORTHLESS expansion packs. They charge $30 for an expansion pack that has as much in it as 30 minutes of downloading mods and maps on the internet.

Catwoman sucks in both movie and game form. Nuff said.

Like I said about vietnam, there is PROBABLY a as yet unannounced expansion. Trust me, EA wants money, and an **** filled expansion would make them tons of it. It's what they do.

Secret weapons of WW2 was a horrible expansion. All it did was add vehicles that had no actual effect on the war. Honestly, there are a ton of mods for the game that are ten times as good as any of their expansions.

Additionally, the LotR games are NOT excellent. They are ****. They just sell well because of the name. The battle system is rudimentary. No need for a storyline because it is copied from the movie. Voice-overs are horrible. And the graphics are absolutely pathetic.

EA destroyd the reputation of the C&C series with an appaling sequel 'Genrals a.k.a Generally Poor'.

Any company that takes over a company like westwood and destroys its games deserves to go out of business so I agree - down with EA games 'destroy everything!'
