Two monitors, one a laptop

I want to hook up my CRT monitor and i want to use my laptop as a second monitor (extended desktop thing). I have them both hooked up to my desktop. I dont know how to get my laptop to just act like a monitor? How can i just use the screen? Please help. I'm using Windows XP btw. Thanks.

Not sure you can do this; I've never heard of it.

How have you connected your laptop to the desktop???

It may be possible to do a remote desktop type connection, but I doubt this'll allow spanning or do what you're trying to do.

If you've got a Nvidia card I believe there are problems using multiple (standard; i.e. CRT/LCD not a laptop) monitors in games anyway.

I'm using an ATI X800 Pro. I have had my laptop hooked up as my main monitor off it and it worked. But now i have my CRT as the main monitor and i want the laptop to be secondary. I dont know, maybe it wont work.

u can't do that. you need a latpop with a TVin or S-video in. But i think that there isn't somethiing like that yet.
In others words u need a All In Wonder agp card.
