Today I played FC2 MP for the first time. I was excited at what I found. FC2 seems like a fun FPS MP game. However, after the first match I began getting kicked from every server I went to. In fact, on one server I was banned.
I was using the assault package with a handgun. The basic package one has when they start playing MP for the first time.
I tried to ask admins but their response was a kick instead of help.
I remembered from my AA & BF2 days that sometimes a player has to manually update PB. I have done this.
I am hoping that the community will be able to shed some light on this issue as I am ready to get back playing FC2 MP.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

There are many reasons for getting kicked. Are you sure it wasn't a Punkbuster error kick? Can you give the exact message you received when you were kicked.
Do you remember if it was a dedicated or locally hosted server you were kicked from? Was it a Ranked or Player Match? Do you recall if there were any clan members?
If a clan is making room for their members, they will most likely kick the lowest ranked players first, or ban you if you keep coming back. They may also kick you if your punkbuster client is not updated or functioning properly.

Thank you for the reply Mangs607.
I was attempting to join Ranked servers.
The message said something to the effect "disconnected from host."
This has occurred even when there were plenty of slots open.
I am not sure about dedicated server or not. I used the Quick Match function.
I hope this information will narrow the possibilities.

Not sure why you are getting kicked, but you might try joining a "custom match" and choose deathmatch. That is a good way to make sure you are not kicked for clan. It's possible to get kicked for having a rank of 1, but that is usually in team matches when they think you will get auto-kicked at game start and make teams uneven. Possibly for rank of 1 on a server that was in the middle of a competative run, but I have never seen that happen - just guessing.
You might try to play some "player matches" (if you haven't) just to make sure everything is working right and you stay connected.

So the message doesn't have the word "kick" or "kicked" in it?
This game is known for very poor network connectivity. If I were you, I would only only choose "custom match" and search for a good ping. I usually never join anything above a 150 ping. Chances are you'll eventually get disconnected from the match.
The #1 reason for repeatedly getting kicked on this game when you first start playing, is for having an outdated version of Punkbuster. Ranked matches have a mandatory PB setting, you can't disable it for a Ranked game.
How did you update your Punkbuster?

I updated manually using PBSetup.
I seem to be ok on the player match servers.
I am still having issues with the ranked match servers.
Good to know that I am not being kicked.
Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Yeah Mangs is a knowlegable guy. Type pb_sv_ver in your console to see what version. PBsetup does not choose the correct path most of the time, and if you have Vista 64 bt then there are multiple places you have to put the file.
Edit: oops yeah discon from host is the server's problem. Its probably related to Ubis map server issues, none of us can play right now, at least custom maps http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

It seems that I every time I attempt to play on any FC2 server I experience network issues. I am either booted or the server crashes.
Are there known issues with the FC2 MP?
Does anyone know if UBI is working on a fix to stabilize MP?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link. That is quite a bit of feedback from the community on the network issues.
I hope they can find a suitable fix so that we can enjoy probably the best part of FC2 (imo).

I have also experienced this problem . From what i have seen buddies do group tegether , this ok unless your combined experience far outweighs the opposition . This has got to be bad for the multplayer community besause it puts new people off and shortens the lifespan of this community.
