What video card do you have? There have been some who have had trouble running it because their card wasn't supported.

If you have bought the retail version of SH5, install the DX 9.0c that is on the disk and you should be OK. If you downloaded SH5 from the net you'll need to go to Microsoft and download DX 9.0c. This is necessary even if you have Vista or Win 7 as your OS.

I have Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT.

Have actually got past this now. I select the very first campaign mission, walk around sub but when I go up ladders to meet captain game has crashed to windows twice. Any ideas thanks

Are you having trouble with any other 3D games?

Is your card overheating? The 8800GT should run the game but it is sorta a old card now and a lot of folks forget that typical closed coolers can get clogged up with dust inside which can cause overheating when the card is stressed. You may have to take it apart to clean it.

Try a lower resolution? I play on a 4870 1GB card with everything maxed at 1680x1050 with no problems but this game seems like a video memory hog so try a lower rez or reduced detail settings.

Did you try reloading DirectX 9.0c?

Good Luck!

Also, if you haven't done so already, get the latest driver updates for that Geforce 8800 GT. Get the driver updates for the sound too.

If the driver updates don't help or if you already have them up-to-date, post your dxdiag info.

To post DirectX Diagnostic information do the following.

1. Click Start
2. Click Run (if you are on Vista, click into the 'Search Textfield')
3. Type DXDIAG then press ENTER
4. When the DirectX Diagnostic loads, click the "Save All Information" Button.
5. Save the text file to your desktop
6. Locate the text file on your desktop and double-click the file to open it
7. Click on Edit
8. Click on Select All
9. Click on Edit
10. Click on Copy (make sure all of the text is highlighted when you click Copy)
11. Right-click into the text field of your forum post and click on Paste
