Okay people its been five days since i brought farcry and i still havent been albe to play it because of this start up problem. Lots of people are suffing from it. The pio thing doesnt work, firmware update for the drive doesnt work. A few other suggestions dont work.
Is a patch coming anytime soon?

What are everyone elses thoughts on the subject?

I fixed that problem (after going out and buying a brand new cd-rom drive, which didn't solve anything) by simply uninstalling Alcohol 120%... cleared it right up, my friend...

I don't know if the same problem exists on the CD version, but for me it seemed to be with the copy protection used on the DVD version of the game.

EVEN after a COMPLETE reinstall of Windows, ALL LATEST drivers and with NO trace of CD copy/emulation software installed, my copy of Far Cry STILL gave the "Please insert correct CD-ROM" error EVERY time!

The ONLY thing that worked for me was to (reluctantly) resort to using a NoCD patch to bypass Far Cry's "shoddy" copy protection!

I didn't WANT to do this, but was FORCED to JUST to run the game I've LEGALLY bought!!

After all, I'm supporting CryTek by PAYING for this game LEGALLY, so my conscience is CLEAR!
