They have done this to every pc game for several years now. They always say its to add polish and in a way that is true. Taking the pr away from it the console versions are higher priority and get finish and polish first. They "crunch" on the console leaving the pc version for last. They could do it at the same time of course but that would cost more and the pr loss for pc doesn't cost as much as finishing on the release date.

Bottom line don't expect any Ubi PC game at the stated release date expect at least one month and possibly up to five.

Dont expect ACR this year expect feb or march 2012 If they are nice we might be told this a month or so in advance but from current form expect it the week of release.

Regarding the delay of "From Dust" for the PC, I can only say I am extremely angry. If I would not control myself this text would contain a lot more expletives.

I think it is bold and an extremely bad policy to delay the game (!!!) one day before release. As far as I know there is no official press announcement, only a few relevant websites report the new date and it can be seen in the online shop from Ubisoft.

I understand that it may take longer to to adapt and test a game for the many different PC configurations. However, one doesn't notice, the day before delivery, that it may be delayed by 3 weeks. If you do not want to spend the money for a quick completion or concurrent release with the console versions, then it is legitimate, but this is normally part of the project plan and known weeks if not months in advance. And this fact could be made understandable to the consumer earlier in a press release.

Since I do not imply that Ubisoft's project planning is bad and therefore exclude unforeseen delays or acts of God's, I assume the motives probably lie elsewhere. The facts that, it is released on time for the consoles, that it is merely a digital online version and not retail and that via the official blog and Facebook already 100 PC keys where given away, I can only assume that the reason for the delay is a customer-despising headstrong company policy.

The goals which Ubisoft wants to achieve with this delay, however, are a mystery to me. Does the management for any reason believe that it may sell more copies? Making profit is indeed legitimate, but profit maximization at any cost as it is being sought by many managers, can quickly backfire. I wonder whether the management is aware that they run a company that sells games to customers, actual human beings, or whether they remain blind and rigid in their economic models. In the long run such actions, which annoy the customers, may result in higher losses which exceed the additional profit which they have hoped for. I would not be surprised if some PC players who were going to buy this game, and are not reluctant from illegal download of games, in the end makes use of the latter. Do not get me wrong, I do think that piracy isn't good for the sector of PC games but bad policy will not help here. If the development studio were an external one it should look for another publisher for their next game who doesn't gamble with the favour of the so called "small" minority of PC gamers.

Long story short. The delay of solely the PC version, the day before publication, no comments and obvious reasons are an effrontery to the customer and a poor policy which doesn't do Ubisoft any good. I would like that "From Dust" for the PC will be released earlier or at least that those in charge would read this text and defend themselves or take a stand.

The reason for the delay was:

From Dust PC is being delayed slightly for more polish and better optimization for a wide range of hardware. The XBLA version is unaffected by this.
