Can not install the game

This is pathetic. I just bought the game two days ago and proceeded to install it today. I put the dvd in and that is when I noticed things starting to go downhill. It took over 5 minutes just to get the install screen pop-up, also before anything even stated installing the program is already asking to be connected to the internet..WHY? I did not ask for any multiplayer stuff to be installed. Finally the game starts to install and then wham...I get the following error:

mm_sp_release
F:\disk1\data2.cab
Data error
(cyclic redunancy check)

I went through the install process three times and get the same error each time. I've checked the DVD and it is free of any marring or smudges.

Any suggestions? I've already tossed the receipt for this game so I'm sure EBGAMES is not going to take it back and exchange it for another copy of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic.
