modding the maps to enable necropolis and preserve and the like made it more fun for many gamers and im sure a few gamers who got to play the surface and or other factions, liked the demo alot more because of it.
so it only made the demo experience more enjoyable for gamers, I dont see much harm in that and that it can only make a few gamers maybe want the game more(some ppl hated the looks of the underground, but when they saw the starting area around haven, they liked it alot).
if it was polluting the forum or something, we could just keep one official thread for mods.
also I doubt demo mods will make heroes 5 loose any sales at all.
most ppl are buying heroes 5 for:
-campaigns and endless maps
-more than just 2 towns, which cannot be really modded in atm(we made fake factions).
-mp options, which are quite limited in the demo.

As for the open beta, modding is moving very fast into the direction of providing content that was NOT planned to be provided. Making all presets available into the demo, providing other maps, other scenarios... And if someone leaks a campaign, why not ?
So to simplify the lives of all moderators, there is no fine line to judge : there will be no modding discussions in the forums, until the game is released.

Did the devs change something with the servers?
Seems as of today its not possible to start a game with the preset modification without crashing H5? (maybe random though)

I haven't downloaded this 18 preset mod and won't be either (I want some things to be new and fresh come the final release). I won't bash anyone about this, but I will say it's quite annoying trying to play a Duel now and as soon as someone with the mod enters the game you created, it crashes the game to the desktop.

Well I could understand the necro / sylvan race being playable, but I think it was closed since you manage to enable all duel heroes which will be on release which is kinda a key feature the game.
Meaning you don't have to buy the game to use the duel feature.

STrange that they didn't disable them better in demo...

Meh, I doubt that I'll touch Duels at all once game arrives. Unless there'll be some way to change armies. Still, even with that...duels just wont be that fun for me, not with regular heroes game.
Atleast this new way keeps me interested in demo, killing time until full game.

Well, I just hope that UBI won't sue the various modmakers on this forum or another ones.
It would be very bad for their community relationship.
About duels I hope that we'll have something cooler than presets, like actually gaining xp when defeating opponents and gold to buy troops.

there is no case of modders who just modified the game for non profit ever being sued, if they reverse egineered or modified the game and then sold it then they could be sued.
considering its not against the law to make mods, unless you sell them for profit and stuff like that, I dont see how they would even consider sueing ppl.

thanx for replying and dont worry I wont make any more modding threads. I might when the retail is out and make something for the retail, but I doubt it.

Ahh, what the heck. If I can wait till the release date, I can as well wait and not make new modding topics. For now modding is actually crippled, as many important thing are not present in demo. I will wait till release and change Emerald & Green Dragon's initiative to 15 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

As long as they don't forbid modding in the final version (I'm not speaking of "commercial mods" and "cheat-mods" (also called hacks) -which are obviously against the terms of trade and fairplay-) everything is alright.
It's their demo and they chose to release "this and that" content. Of course they can't physically stop "us" from unlocking features privately, but we must respect their rules.
To summerize it:
I like the "freedom of modding" and I absoluteley love developers who make their games more accessible to the community... but it's an accommodation by the developers and so they have their rights.
That's just my opinion... now I'm gonna read what the others said. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

correct, and there is one more thing, no virtual personality could be sued (or at least in the country I live :P)
