hello everyone..

here's my problem:

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/jackcarver11/redprob.jpg

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/jackcarver11/greenprob.jpg

Far Cry runs fine, but there always seems to be some textures which done show correctly.. for example in the pictures above, there are pieces with red splotches (sp?) and green splotches.

Each time I run the game, there is some texture problem, but it appears in different places, and manifests itself in different colors. In fact, if I alt-tab out of the game, and then alt-tab back, the texture problems disappear, but appear elsewhere.

sometimes, at the level-loading screen there are lots of small red squares on the screen.

these are the only problems.. the game runs normally except for these issues, plus a very occasional crash to desktop.

any suggestions what the problem may be? I'm thinking it might be bad video ram?
that would SUCK!

here is some info:

specs:

AMD 64 3500+ cpu
geforce 6800 GT card (by leadtek)
k8n neo platinum2 mobo
1 gig ddr ram
psu is 400 watts

running far cry ver 1.31
running all video settings at highest levels (at 1280x1024)
running 71.84 drivers for graphics card
running latest mobo drivers and bios
running directx 9.0c

the graphics card temperature never runs close to the "core slowdown threshold" of 120 C.
my cpu runs cool.. never higher than 50 C.

under normal circumstances, the computer has no problems (surfing the web, etc)

Far cry is the only game i have, but i just downloaded UT2004 demo, and with very limited testing (15 mins), i haven't seen the same problem (but maybe that's because Far Cry is much more graphically intensive?)

I ran memtest on my ram, and there were no issues.

one more thing.. when i exit dxdiag, i always get the error:

the instruction at "0x0125107b" referenced memory at "0x029d2f58". The memory could not be "read".

..not sure if that has anything to do with my issues.

any help would be appreciated, and I can give you any info about my computer that you need.

thanks!

From those two pics your texture problem is minor. I had a situation where all ground textures were rainbow colored patchwork. The solution was to reinstall Far Cry. You should already have the latest game patches and Nvidia drivers installed. If not, now would be a good time.
DocSeal thinks it is due to overclocking but it did not go away at stock speeds. I think it is a corrupted file in the game.

You have to reinstall the game.

Even when it happens in other games?

If you are having problems in other games as well then it is probably your video drivers. Clean out old drivers and re-install. I had a problem with omegas and had to roll back to an earlier Cat.
