Activation Room!! Stuck

Activated 1st tower,Woman in red gave me different sword.Ran off from dahaka,got as far as the activation room. got to point where there's 3 dog things,a large wooden wheel(Not rotating) you roll under.Then jump gap in large 'hall' opening,to 3 or 4 red bad guys.Wooden panelled walls.Right hand turn..Large drop (jump) climbed earlier,after pressing button on wall.section of the wall came out to narrow the gap,Can see 2 more bad guys behind a water fall.where i think i must have to get down to..HOW??
Did or tried doing sections/towers in wrong order before! just wanted to go where i wanted...have a wander about! Anyone know where i need to do if ive missed abit out???

Is it that button that makes a small box comes up for 2 seconds? If so, you must use the Breath Of Fate to slow down time while hitting the button. Then go on the box and use the rope to swing to the left part of the ledge to continue to your destination.

??? on way to reach and activate 2nd tower,made it to warp room.now heading back in past,map shows to goto activation room..where it says i am.just cant find a way down from far past warp room.

Return to the central structure near the large spinning cog gear. You are near its top.
Jump over to the shack on the side, descend, jump back over to the central structure.
Exit through the lower portion of the large spinning cog gear.

the central bit with a wooden cog....problem it isnt moving,and if i jump acorss to the shack and try to lower down to lower level its too far and i die!
Is this becuase ive missing a section or done a bit in the wrong order? (i like to go where i want,search and have a look around-but this game doesnt like anyone doing that!!) had to do 1st tower again,turned up there too soon and wouldnt let me into tower....so then didnt get sword...etc etc!!

Didnt know u could do jump thing wall to wall ..DOWN!
Not seen it as a move in instructions or come up in game..Either going up anyway or miss jump stub's his toe on wall then collapses to his death! Not too bad though think that was the only bit i got stuck with..1 simple technique and then sorted whole game.
