Myst IV isnt out yet and your all just spoiling it for yourselfs by looking up all this info about it! By the time it comes out you will all already know everything about the game and you guys will regret this! Think about it: Your fans of a game you never yet played!

I admit that I have looked at a few screenshots myself but you guys are just trying to find out everything about Myst IV!

But we can't HELP it! We're inquisitive people who analyze things in order to complete our goals! If I see a screenshot of a book, I'm going to try and learn everything I can from that book. Why is it beige? Is it worn? open? closed? bindings?

But do I regret it? I haven't yet. Could I do with some restraint....yes. Too bad for me http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Myst is a legacy - bigger than that - and we're way to eager to wait patiently for the best Myst game ever.

And no matter how much much we've dug up, it only makes us want to play the game more - besides that we haven't even scrached the surface of what's to come in Myst IV.

I agree with Nerhe. By the time you rip off the cellaphane you'll be depressed. Anticipation is your game, not the game itself.

What's wrong with anticipation? You say that like it's a bad thing. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I thought "Anticipation" was a Carly Simon song.

Or a ketchup commercial.

I have a different attitude about spoilers, though of course I won't say anything "spoilerish" in a non-spoilers forum.

To me, anything you see or read or hear about game doesn't replace the game itself. You could show me a thousand screenshots, and the world won't be alive to me, like it will be when I play the game. I realize everyone isn't like me, but for those of you like me, bring it on!

Anticipation only gets me revved up for the game all the more. And really, unless some idiot decides to lose it and reveals all he knows in a rabid fit, the little scraps and snippets that we do get, are such a small part of the game, that all they do, for ME anyway, is make me want to have it on my computer all the more - and sooner rather than later.

"...is keeping me wai-ai-ai-ai-aiiiting."

I want the game too. But I've been through spoiler pics before. I find they weaken the experience a tad for me. I've already seen more than I expected of Revelation. 2 creatures, the ship, 2 jungle pics, the floating rock, a piece of livingroom, a piece of kitchen, a bedroom, 1/4 of a big round object http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif , 2 of young Yeesha, the 1st trailer, another pic of the main Age, & the 1st 2 screenshots. That's more than enough. The game isn't gonna arrive any sooner if I look at all the rest.

Surprisingly, no. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif I'll begin to get anxious when they ship to stores, but not now. I don't want to burn a hole in my stomach.

I'm not looking for all the answers. . . I'm just looking for more people who are as obsessed with Myst as I am!!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif What information I am looking for has to do with system requirements and release dates http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Plus, my patience factor is practically depleted from waiting for the mac version of Uru! I wasn't expecting a new myst game first, but I'll take it! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I'm with mszv. The first time I went to Paris, I'd seen a million photographs, but it didn't ruin the experience -- a game is the same thing.

I've yet to find enough info to spoil a game for me beforehand. In fact I'm constantly looking for any new little - or big ie: soon-to-be-available demo http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif - tidbit that is made available. All those things do is keep me VERY interested. I'm with Corona on the getting really excited just before the game is released, though. I was all wound up right before Aura came out - wasn't even sure if I could get a copy where I live - and was on the phone to half the province trying to see if anyone would be getting one in. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I got lucky with Aura - found 1(!) place with it ordered right after it came out. With PotS - the same anticipatory anxiety, but was not able to track down a copy until nearly 2 weeks after the release to stores. Which got me a little stressed - someone HAD to be getting it in somewhere - didn't they? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

I'm with mszv and Cierdwyn. There's always controversy about this. When Myst III was gearing up, a lot of people were upset and said there were "too many screenshots" available, and the like. But for me, I have to see a ton of spoilers to really spoil a game. When I see beautiful screens like we've seen so far, and especially to see some trailers and hear music like the main theme, it just gears me up for the release. If I see and know little about the game beforehand, when I play it, I would say, "Ok, that's cool", but I wouldn't have been looking forward to it as much, making the experience far less enjoyable.

But that's just me. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

A game is not Paris. But, it doesn't matter how many pictures af a game I see. It doesn't matter if I ever read the whole story line and plot. Until tey are put together in their environment, they are just more meaningless stuff I've seen. The way they are put together gives them their meaning.

Kind of like movies. Althought I have seen trailers that do ruin the movie for me. So it is possible to show too much.

If they started giving out the puzzles so I could play them all before I got into te game.. Then, I would be spoiled and would lose excitement.

The problem that I have with spoilers is they take away that sense of discovery. When I wander into a new area in games like these, one that I have never seen before, it's an amazing, exciting experience. Whereas when I go to a place where I have already seen a myriad of screenshots, instead of saying "oh wow! this place is awesome" all i do is "oh cool, this place."

Its still cool to wander around in this place that you have been looking forward to thoroughly exploring, but you miss out on that first hit of seeing a world that you have never seen before and suddenly being immersed in it. Seeing something for the first time in a screenshot does not compare to seeing something for the first time in the game.

For example, in PotS, I had already seen and heard about Ahnonay and so when I linked there I had a flat feeling of, ok - finally I am in ahnonay, it looks just like the screenshots. But then when I solved the first puzzle and linked in and out, and everything had changed I was floored. Seeing things that i had never seen and things that i most definitely wasnt expecting, thats when the game was at its best.

I feel like I am already familiar with many areas of revelation, and I have actually been trying to avoid spoliers. For me playing a game the second time around is never as satifying as the first because nothing is unexpected. Too many spoilers does the same thing for me. It kinda gives me the feeling that I have already played parts of the game, and I lose that sense of discovery and amazement.
