Setting up the Bombsight?

Alright, I though I'd give the bombers a run for a change...

Haven't touched them since the original IL-2. Not once. Can you believe that?

Recently I've flown the He-111, B-25, TB-3, and the A-20 around a bit, and bound keys for all the bombsight controls. Now, the thing that's stumping me is how do I get my eyeball to actually peer through the bombsight itself, once I've shifted to the bombedier's station? I've gone through the non-interactive bomber tutorial, and it said to hit <Shift-F1> by default, but nothing is happening. Also, while going through the "controls" menu for binding keys, I haven't the slightest of which control in the list on the left binds to the function of actually looking through the bombsight.

Yeah, I know: I've had this sim long enough to know this by now, but again, I've never flown the heavies until now.

Uh, duh!

Nevermind.

Just figured it out. Same key as used for looking through the sight on fighters.

I don't know about the others, but with the B-25 you have to be level and stable for several seconds before you will see the bombsight. Use the Auto Level function.

I had the same problem, I played this game for years and thought the level bombing function was useless.Then I discovered the level stabilizer, an unmapped key that is hidden in at the beginning of the controls menu.When activated it holds you steady so your bombsight will stabilize and the bombsight reticle will appear.To see this reticle you have to change seats from pilot to bombadier by pressing c, then toggle the gunsight veiw and you will see your bombsight.You also have to map the bombsight control keys, also in the controls menu.Your flight controls won't work when the level stabilizer is on but the rudder trim left and right does, which is ideal for last second adjustments as you come up on your target.I beleive you can download bombing training guides and charts from airwarfare.com
