I tried asking this last night and got no reply, so I will try asking in this thread. I know enough about computers to make me dangerous! With that being said, how does one change the size of the photos so I can upload them to the forums photo album. It only takes 2MB SS and mine are all at 2.3MB. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Gonejohn

Most use some form of graphics program to resize photographs or SS. I myself use Corel Paintshop Pro. There are a number of free graphics programs which will allow you to resize pictures. There is one program called Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/windows/) which I know a number of people in the Forums use.

Tambor, I went into paint and resized the pics to 90%, uploaded into the album and then posted.does the photo album work properly on this forum, because it appears that it is uploading but nothing is showing. Or am I missing something.

Well, I'm just guessing, but when you take a screenshot in SHIV it stores them in the installation folder in a bmp file format. Meaning it is very large in size. You'll need to convert the screenshot into a jpeg which is a smaller file size and will load easier when uploaded to these forums.

I don't resize mine, but doesn't photobucket have that option. I think if you edit, it should be there if you use that for pictures.

I do most of my photo resizing in Photoshop but, there are plenty of freeware image editing programs you can use that'll do the job better than Microsoft paint (which doesn't really compress the jpeg file all that much).
Try using XnView, IrfanView or ACDSee. These are just a scant few of the myriad of free image editors that'll resize your photos and compress the jpeg into a much smaller size w/o all that much loss to quality.
You know enough about computers to make you dangerous? To who or what? Your own PC, you mean? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

GoneJohn hit on the partial solution.

MS Paint can be used to resize but, I only use it to convert the files to JPEG, then upload them to Photobucket, which will automatically resize them. Then copy the UBB link that photobucket provides and paste the shots into my posts.

Wolferz... thanks for the input! I finally got one screenshot up tonight that works.
I apologize to everyone for the first set... I still need to learn how to put single images up through photobucket! So please be patient with me...I am no computer genius! My kids are, I am not!

No need to apologize, Gonejohn. We all started at the beginning also. Pretty soon you'll be a veteran like the rest of us (I think). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

The link will have a [IMG] in the front and end of it.

I use photobucket and never have to resize my SS's before forwarding them to Tambor.I upload them to photobucket at 1024X 768.

So if I post them to photobucket and don't resize them I can put them up on the threads?

Tambor:
Well, you guys know that I like to do everything the hard way. Oops! Sorry Tambor. I didn't mean to slight your suggestion. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif Paint IS convenient (since it's already there) but, I knew there were alot of other programs that handle compression better. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yes, just upload to photobucket at that size, get the [img] code and post them in the threads.

I will try that later this week. Thank you everyone for the help! I just thought that the photo album was like the ones I have used on other forums. They hold pics seperately from the forum so you can upload at your leisure. This is a pain in the rear......but I am sure that I will get the hang of it!
Again, thank you everyone for the help!
