If I had to pick one that's almost impossible.

It's got to be between:

Spitfire MkI.
English Electric Lightning.

Bf109G2 of course but only on the condition I start from a slingshot and finish in a safety net. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Yar, that's a toughie. If I could own an aircraft it'd be a PBY or a Grumman Goose sort of thing. If I could fly any aircraft. Well, now you are talking. Is it a balls to the wall ride like an EE lightning or an F-105? Or something elegant and an all rounder like a Viper or a Fulcrum?

I think I'd probably go with the venerable F-86 Sabre.

Tiger Moth. That fooled you all, didn't it?

Not really.

I think I would have gone with that old Great War pusher thingy.

That's a tough question. A Spitfire would be an obvious choice for me, but F_f's post got me thinking:

Sikorsky Ilya Muromets.

A bf-109. But i'd like a floatplane for leisurely flying, and maybe a Bf-108 so that I can share the Messer experience with friends and family. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/partyhat.gif

X-15 all the way! Launched from a B-52 and flown into space and then a smooth glide home to land on a dry lake bed. Also the landing was escorted by a NASA F-104. The epitome of coolness. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif All that hoopla aside I just find it to be an amazing aircraft and the test pilots had big brass ones.

We has a starship based at KSUS for awhile - awesome aircraft. Pitch trim utilized adjustable sweep on the canard, cabin quiet and in front of the main spar carrythrough for a flat floor, fast and fuel efficient. Too bad they all were destroyed with chainsaws and bulldozers http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Not all, that is a urban myth.

There are 5 flyable in the US and one possible in Mexico, all in private hands, and a couple more in museums.

Hence out of 53 made around 8 to 10 survive and the other 40 odd were destroyed.

You will note one of the posters in the thread below spotted one landing in NE Philadelphia in early 2010.
