WINXP 64
AMD X2 4800+
2 NVIDIA 7900 GTs (SLI CAPABLE) - DRIVER VERSION 6.14.10.9371
1 GIG RAM
Game wont even load, I click the icon, it checks for updates, then I see what I think is the SecureRom Icon, a little spinning disc/mouse, then.... "R6Vegas_Game.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have completely disabled my firewall and anti-virus, so thats not it. I know it works on other systems with XP 64 due to many other forum posts... I just want to play the game!?!?!?!?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

First thing I always recommend to people with problems like that who have powerhouse systems:
(Aside from checking your video driver version which you've already mentioned)
Try disabling one video card and have the game run on one processor. See if it works then, and if so, then go to two processors, see if it works, etc, etc...
SLI and dual cores still may cause issues, narrow the search as much as you can and eliminate both those as issues. If it doesn't work when you're down to one card and one processor, then there's something else at work here.

I have already tried 1 video card, I'm not quite sure how to regulate the game to run on only one core? Anyone?
Thanks,

Launch game, alt-tab and then open the Task Manager. Right-click on R6Vegas_Game.exe and select Set Affinity.
I'd be *really* surprised though if it would make a difference since all my computers are Dual Cores.
This might also help you:
Control Panel -> Regional and Languages -> Advanced -> Language for non-Unicode Programs -> English(United States).
As seen in http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2231031415/m/2...881008315#5881008315 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/2231031415/m/2631027315?r=5881008315#5881008315)

He can't get into the game to alt-tab out and reset affinity. I've forgotten how to do it before opening a program. Anyone else remember?

I was able to see it in the task manager untill i choose not to send the error report. I have chosen to run the application on either core, but this seems to have no effect at all, still crashes on load.....

Good Day,
Sadly enough, welcome to the club..I havent been able to pass the Unreal logo and a "CANT INITIALIZE OLE" error that appears in that momment...and my system is enough to play de game (AMD X2 4400+, 7900GTX, 2 GB RAM, etc..)... Yesterday a friend of mine installed his Splinter Cell Double Agent in my system and it worked without any trouble...But my RB6..I have spent hours trying to make it work...

By the way..are you sure you arent mounting your game using something as Daemon Tools or program like that....this is an error I have seen with other users trying to do that...exactly after the spining dics that message appears...

Disabling your firewall once you've logged into windows may not be sufficient since Outpost for instance loads a specific DLL when windows is loading.
Go into your Event Viewer and you should now see a ton of errors that resulted from the faulting application. You should also find which file is conflicting with R6Vegas_game.exe.....in my case it was wl_hook.dll. Renaming it fixed the problem.
If you don't have Outpost firewall, it may be another file that causes the conflict....find it via Event Viewer to determine which application it belongs to and work from there.

My Brother has the same problem.
Even though his PC is more powerful than mine, because the game wont recognise his processors jointly, he can't even boot the game up.
Surely this isn't a difficult fix for Ubi? Fingers crossed that they get their act together and fix it quickly as they are losing most high-end pc gamers (With massive rigs)because of a lazy bug that should have been ironed out before release.

I don't think you're referring to the same problem. (What happens when he starts the game exactly?)
If some of you still have these problems with patch 1.02, be sure to post your specs and what is happening exactly.

He has 2x 2.8ghz P4's.
The game says he doesn't reach the minimum standard and gives an error when he tries to boot. The rest of his pc exceeds the min and rec standard. In theory, his processors are more powerful than my 3ghz p4. My pc runs it just fine in both sp and mp (Although i've been getting a few ctd's with the latest patch which didnt happen before??)
What strikes me as strange is that he can't even get to the main menu. It just gives him an 'Application has encountered an error' message before the UBI splash screen appears.

Goign back to the initial message, I encountered the same pb.
All graphic & audio drivers are up-to-date, game is version 1.02. I've played the game without any problem until the beginning of Mission 2 (arriving at Vegas). After 2 minutes playing, the game began to freeze. So I rebooted, click on the game icon, and then nothing. The securom logo appears for a few seconds, and then... nothing happens, I remain in Windows.
I uninstall and install the game 2 times to no avail (each time with a defrag).
I would really like to set the game to play on a single core. But how can I do it if the game does not even load ?
My conf : Intel Core 2 Duo 6400+, ATI X1900XT (SM3.0), soundblaster X-FI FPS, and just 1 drive DVD Writer (I hope it's not a securom pb).
Can anyone help ?

I finally fixed it.
I just did a complete uninstall (including uninstalling game saves and game options which I did not do in my previous attempts). Prior to that, I copied the "R6_SaveCHECKPOINT" file (located in "my do***ents\ubisoft\R6Vegas") into another drive. New install version 1.00 from DVD, the game launched ok at the end of install. I quit the game and ran it again to get the updater download the 1.2 patch. The game loaded fine. I quit the game and then copied my "R6_SaveCHECKPOINT" file into "my do***ents\ubisoft\R6Vegas". Now I can play the game from my last checkpoint.
I can't say the game works fine as I am facing the well-known dual core poor performance issue. Running the game on a single core does not solve it, but this is another topic now...

went to tech support, got this back:
"Unfortunately, Windows XP 64 bit is not a supported operating system for the
game, as is indicated on the bottom of the box. The development team is aware
of the problem, and are looking into the matter. Unfortunately, there is no way
for you to play the game on this operating system currently."
Checked back on the forum, was running Outpost firewall, renamed wl_hook.dll to @wl_hook.dll and bingo, game launches and runs just fine.....figures.
Now I just have to figure why I'm getting a crappy frame rate with 2 7900GTs....... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Thanks rattus_acerbus!

To fix that problem...temporarily shutdown Outpost. Do not rename dlls as that inteferes with the operation of the firewall and may cause instability.
Right click on the game shortcut on your desktop and copy the target. In the \Program Files\Agnitum\Outpost\ folder open wl_hook_data.cfg and paste the target you copied inside and remove the quotes. Now save and close and restart Outpost.
Run your game.
