Okay, I'm a sucker. I thought, "A crossbow for 5 bucks, not so bad.", so I bought the DLC. What the heck, so where are the new weapons and such? I ran the installation for the DLC and it said it installed. I've tried my current story, and tried a new story, neither have the new content. What do I do to get the DLC to work. Is it only MP?

Vehicles are spread out on the map, usually at checkpoints. New weapons are in a a crate in the Gunshop Armories (where your new weapons purchased are)

But i am not that good, maybe i have just a good rig. but understand me, i paid 50e for this game. Before the first patch, it was just crap... in mp.
MP is till bit crap.. and now they add some stuff on, we have to pay for it?? Or its only for the US customers? Are we (non-US) customers not important enough?
and i still think they should have added the playable plane in it. Would be nice toi throw the molotov and grenades down into the campers their foxhole...

but i agree with you, there are atm much more important patches to do.
Hardcore will be nice, but we still have to wait how they balanced the weapons. I hope they listened to the online community enough. Better server lobby also needed, because atm the started games (in ranked mode)are still showing, its improved, but still... .
Also the server lobby does not remember your preferences... .

Now lets see and above all wait till the new patch arrives, i estimate it will be about eastern. (because the hollidays and vacation).

I see that many people understand that release of Fortune pack as absolutely screewed priority chart, and to be honest I felt same when it was released to consoles. Not this time, because I know that they working on more important things as well.
But when you think about it more and concerning to all informations whose we have its clear that developers didnt had enough time to finish game in quality as they wish to release it and upcoming patches are hopefully that part. (those previous was only fixes of main issues, IMAO).
Developers and shareholders are two "separated groups" and I belive that developers try hard to make Far Cry 2 after those patches as good game as they wish to make it for game release. So I think that for them is important to let them know, that here are still some real Far Cry 2 fans who believe them and also that we looking forward to those updates. Btw - those updates should be main engine updates, server updates, hardore mod, weapons rebalance etc. etc. so it must be a LOT of work and testing.

You automatically get the weapons in Singleplayer. They will be in the middle of the room with all of the weapons you unlocked (i.e. the building next to the one with the computer you buy weapons at).

Multiplayer? I can't tell you. None of the servers I go to ranked or unranked have the new maps to even test it out.

I used the special key to unlock the weapons.

Here are my impressions.

1. Exploding crossbow. < Think Rambo when he blows that VC commander into bacon bits. Very powerful. Reminds me of the MGL with the scope and all.

2. Double-barreled shotgun. Does a lot of damage but suffers from reload time.

3. Silenced shotgun. Could be nice for when you want to go stealth and not be heard. I kind of like it.

New vehicles: I have only found the big 5-ton and it seems like it takes damage pretty fast. It looks cool but not sure if it really adds that much to the game. I'll let you know when I find the ATV.

Overall, I don't mind spending $4.99 for the DL. I just wish it was available for me on ALL the multiplayer maps, not just the new maps. It would be nice to play on player-made maps with the new weapons.

Funny how the PC DLC is the very same crap they sold to console players for their DLC, the same crap they had made prior to the games release and act as if it is something new. The same maps, the same weapons, the same vehicles.

Paying for this content is a slap in the face from Ubisoft. Ubisoft does make great games but they tend to release and forget. It happens with every series they create, always moving to the next title and cash pot. Sadly its at the expenses of its customers. PC customers in general. I'm an avid buyer of the their games, Rainbow 6 Ghost Recon, Far Cry, to many to list.

Ubisoft needs to get their collective heads out of their *** and realize that they have one of the best MP games out today. Granted the mechanics are rusty and need to be polished, but anyone on this forum will tell you; when the wind is right and planets are aligned, the MP experience is sweet.

What will it take to simply toss us a hardcore server patch, one that allows us to pick and choose weapons, maps, vehicles and any damn thing we want. fix the Ubisoft's login servers so they don't CRASH - (That should be a red flag). DOCUMENTION, clear instructions on how to setup a server/

And BTW - Why cant I go prone?

Record our RANKS, so people will stop fudging thier numbers.

I'd respectfully disagree. FC1 (PC) lasted so long because of its MP, when FC2 was announced the community put forward a list of things FC2 MP should have - hardly anything on that list made it into the FC2 MP.

Was it lack of motivation? lack of time? lack of expertise, lack of respect, or down to a 'we know better' attitude?...something Im sure could be argued for a long time.

Why would they spend so much time on a great map editor if you dont expect MP to take off?

The FC1 community wanted the FC2 MP to be an improvement on what they'd enjoyed for over the last 4 years, sadly many FC1 vets think the FC2 MP is inferior to the FC1 MP (its prettier but lacks features available in FC1, and is overall less enjoyable), the only good thing to come from FC2 MP failure is that it has kick started the FC1 MP community again.

We all want FC2 MP to be improved, hopefully the next patch (scheduled for release sometime before the end of the world) will make it more attractive.

Apologies for going off-topic.

To keep on-topic, I'll say I wont be purchasing any DLC at my expense. The MP community thrives from modding, gamers can tweak/create a new gaming experience that they feel the developers missed or didnt have the opportunity to take.

This is why SDK's are generally expected these days to keep the MP community alive, as nearly every game release these days offers MP, so there is more competition between games.

Games with modding capabilities will generally outlast games without.

Whilst I can appreciate Ubi doing it this was for their business model, I think they should prioritise patching the numerous reported flaws with the game BEFORE releasing additional content for purchase.

I have no issue with paying for new content, and no issues with making new content myself as a modder for games and giving away for free. I do have issues with $5. DLC offered for 360 users when the promised patch is still in development and the patch gets released over a month later, and now near 2 monthes after promised hardcore mode they sell us DLC for $5.. that I have an issue with and every customer should as well.

I like the game but I as well as everyone else should expect patches done for SP and MP then additional content that is paid for. not push back the patch release date and offer DLC after the patch was supposed to be out already.

BTW this DLC was content made for the game prior to its release sold to PS3/360 users already paid for when we the first week buyers bought the game. along with the ingame ads it is nothing more than extra revenue for Ubi. If say in 6 monthes ubi offers an expansion pack with new vehicles/buildings/AI/weapons for $20 and all game stopping bugs are fixed prior in patches then that would be supporting the developers. as is right now.. your supporting the board of directors flawed business plan. I.E lemmings the board of directors like.

I like the game myself, it has good replayability, there are a few things missing and some of them are promised. I for one am boycotting pay for DLC until promised patch/updates are complete. I played the SP to death got all the diamonds, all the weapons, and every possible mission completed 3 times even with all the stuck at% bugs and bad saves I suffered. now i would like the MP side fixed to hardcore mode as promised before I will pay another penny to Ubi.

Yeah. I started a server with the Fortunes Pack maps. Myself and a clanmate were the only ones who could stay in the server because we have the pack. Anyone w/o the pack couldn't join. Kinda lonely with 2 people in there. I could NOT find the new weapons in the Jungle Seizure I assume it was like the 360 version someone else was talking about. The truck looks cool but still blows up with two nades or crossbow bolts. The ATV does have advantage that it will turn tight corners. If anyone else has the fortunes pack I will accasionally put up a server with it. The server will be named:
-M- | Fortunes Maps.

The pick-up weapons replace your secondary weapon.
The Crossbow when picked up has only 3 bolts (arrows) with exploding tips. When you use up the bolts and go to the ammo box to get ammo it will drop the crossbow and go back to your secondary weapon so you have to retrieve the Crossbow all over again.

PS I think that if it's the case that only US gamers can use it, then Ubisoft are gonna to lose out of a lot more customers...first they sell you a broken game and then they proceed to do nothing about patches for the game & then they charge you $5 for DLC, when it should be free!

The weapons are pretty good and you have a good mix of stuff. The game needs an update to kill off the Barrett from seeing people thru rocks but that is coming in the hardcore patch.

I really like the game. I think it is fun to play and you can play in a million different settings.

I loved FC1 and this isn't FC1 but it is a great game in it's own right.

So many stopped playing the game and so did i, but still waiting for patch , so patch first then fortune pack and i would be ok and so would many more.

Just take a look on from where they said a patch are going to be released, not very fast???

I might give the game a go if the patch will be released hopefully 2009 before cristhmas?

Well Ubisoft destroyed this game a long time ago, with lack of support, stupid gameplay decisions, too long time between patches/gameplay improvements and a Multiplayer which is utterly terrible compared to other games.

Now they charge for this small package of senseless crap, just to milk more money from the die-hard fans. I'm dissapointed again, release a nice content already. Or look at Valve they release stuff for FREE!

That's not the point. It is not about the money, it's about releasing a DLC before the patch along with charging for it on a platform that isn't used to paying for bonus packs like this.

sadly i think i will never get to try the fortunes pack extras (weapons,Vehicles & multiplayer maps) due to the fact i bought my copy of far cry 2 from a retail outlet ...this effectivly stops me from adding it to my steam account ;-( after i bought it 2 weeks later the fortune pack was released and now i already have a registerd copy of the full game but cannot get the extras unless i buy a new copy THIS IS SHINNANIGANS why would i buy 2 copies of the same game???? most other game makers supply single disc addon packs .which is meant to help the loyal customers to enjoy the game further and shows there support of the communities that use there software ....WILL I EVER GET TO USE THE CROSSBOW WITHOUT PAYING FOR THE GAME TWICE???? sorry for the shout but it seems someone needs to UBI WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TOO ;-( I am in the uk and use a pc copy

First of all I do not need another "Multiplayer Key"! As I already have one and play online with my retail version of Far Cry 2.

Second I cannot pay by credit card on some US and European websites and do not know which version of the retail game I have. US or Europe? I know the UK version has advertising in the game. The UK/Euro version will have a rating 18 on the front cover, the US version will have an M Rating.

Also the covers look different. The US version cover image is divided into 4 quarters with a 'sniper' circle image in the centre, while the UK version is just a single picture.

Look on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk to see the difference.

There are two ratings in Europe. The BBFC is the British Board of Film Classification and is applicable to the UK, and PEGI (Pan European Game Information).

Each board does it's own rating, and the BBFC rated it 18, PEGI 16+. PEGI are just less strict I guess. Anyway, I suspect your copy came from continental Europe.

Either way, I'm almost certain you don't have the US version.

Sold my other FC2 and bought the FC2 with Fortune pack for £15. Way cheaper than on release and D\ling the Fortune pack.

The Fortune pack came as a separate DVD and installed in about 2 seconds! there really isn`t much there and it must have cost them more making the DVD than making the content. Very little, especially for single players... Glad I didn`t pay full price for it.

fortunes is a cheat, especially when you use it w/ infamous. would have been nice if it were better implemented. instead of just stuck in the garage.

they could have come up with something better than the truck.

I don't think you can put a silencer on a shotgun but it turned out to be one of my favorite guns. crossbow was a good way to put off buying a rocket launcher instead save for some camo. big big cheat there. Silenced shotgun is like having mp5 from the start

sawed-off is a good way to commit suicide. that's a useless gun. 2 feet to the chest and the guy is still alive.

good stuff. at five bucks a pop, you could've paid some devs to implement it better...

Since Ubisoft want's to be stubborn basturds i'm going to just hack the fortunes pack, as first of all i bought the game retail when it was released $50, then they come out with the fortunes pack sometime later, so i decided i'd like to try it, only that they don't sell it seperately anymore, you have to buy the whole game with it. I already bought the dam game!!
