Hi everyone,

First of all I am deeply sorry for the problems encountered yesterday. Valve solved it at around 4AM Paris time.

I managed to play 2 games this morning, but your forums posts suggest there are remaining issues. Apparently, some of you can no longer launch the game as it does not appear in the list anymore.

Please post here your remaining issues which prevent you from launching the game. Other issues (such as with the autokick system) will be handled later on.

Great news Mathieu,

The issue im and others have when it comes to launching is that steam claims we need to purchase it and therefor cant download the content or launch the game.

When i did succede to launch my game the server system was down.

- Purchase required for launch.
- Download disabled becuase of purchase.
- Server system for matching is down.

I don't see the game. It disapeared from my library.

Also, clicking on advert "free ruse week" leads to nothing, just refreshing main steam page.

EDIT:
Oh it's back. But still - there is only "buy now" button what leads to nothing, main page of steam.

Dear Mathieu,

you have to create a new Steam account as a workaround in order to continue playing the game. Maybe that helps finding the cause of the problem.

Yes, logging on to a new steam account works, and i dont have to download it again, its just there. On original account License is expired.

Alright tested it:

- When i launch steam i have no RUSE on my list
- Clicking on "free ruse weekend" advert in shop leads to nothing, but adds ruse to my game list
- Game can't be played there is just "buy now" button, leads to nowhere (main page)
- After reseting steam RUSE disapears again.

The same issiue for me. I have found it in my library again but instead of being able to click "Play" it has replaced theat button with "Purchase". Also clicking on "click here to play now" does send you back to the steam home page.

to me ruse was not showing up so i typed in steam://preload/33310 it has appeared but instead of play it says purchase

So, ... I managed to get that thing back into my library, via normal Internet Browser and typing in "store.steampowered.com/app/33310", but it still says Purchase instead of Play.

My french didn't get exercised after I quit the course in eleventh grade, but I think I made my point. The organization simply went wrong on both sides and that is something that shouldn't happen. Either way, R.U.S.E. is still a great game, so don't take my ourburst too literally.

And since there are good chances official Staff might read this post:
Reverse intel and Decryption Ruses should be applied globally or they don't pose much use. Just lower their duration to like two minutes and they should be fine. The german 88 is still too expensive for its abilities and should either way get tweaked a bit concerning the turret-rotation and damage or prize it down to like 30$.

And of course, the Auto-Kick needs some tweaking, but that is a known problem I just wanted to emphasize on again.

IMPORTANT: If you make a new steam account, there is a Steam-News about RUSE. It say, that the Free RUSE Weekend end now at SUNDAY 10 pm!!! That's why i have 9 hours left now. This is a failure too !!!!!!!!!

I have to say that R.U.S.E. totally conquered my heart. As an old CnC-Fan since Red Alert 1 and with the course this franchise has taken now (CnC4 *shudder*) and with the many shortcomings the other games had (Tengu-Rush in RA3, etc.), I never really was a multiplayer and sticked to the (again rapidly in quality decreasing) singleplayer.

But R.U.S.E. is a Multiplayer-Game of finest quality. The Balancing is as good as todays CnCs could only dream of, even before the release (!!!) and everything is counterable, ... more or less (in time).

The hard AI can be a nuisance if you happen to pick the wrong strategy, but doesn't adapt as quickly as human opponents and is therefore easy to defeat, and the ruses are pretty good (exclude Reverse Intel and Decryption as I stated in my previous post!) to annoy the enemy. This game is just fun as hell.

So please, please, pretty please, solve this problem ina way that we can fully drown ourselves in this great game and its dephts of win and loss in MP.

Cordially and a major supprter of this new franchise (!!!)

I can't play either ... And it's the same for all friends playing the game I know!

There better be some compensation for this otherwise I'll be very disappointed.

I just got back to the vacation so I didn't get any playtime during the time it worked.

I know this is not your fault but ****ing **** call steam/valve and tell them thay are idiots!

Ps: yesterday untill 0300 paris time when i went to bed. I was abel to start ruse and play singel player. But now i cant do **** :/

Yes just wait you see they are working on the problem so.
And they sayed there also talking about giving more hours.
So just wait till they fix it.
You can still give your problems but why saying it every time if its bin post here like 4 times.
Like its going to make a big diffrence.

Just be patient and we can play soon.

As for the RUSE Community, I hope you guys realize what great customer/community support we are getting by Mathieu keeping us informed of the situation. Just an outstanding effort by Mathieu to resolve and communicate where in the process this issue with the RUSE Demo is. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Some time ago, I was involved with a different, larger company throughout their Beta and their eventual game release date. Never and I mean NEVER, did we ever receive the communication about the games playability issues like I am seeing with Mathieu and the Eugen team. Usually they just released a Forum update stating the generic statement that the game is experiencing technical difficulties, blah, blah, blah, then about 24 to 48 hrs it would be playable again with little or no communication throughout the process.

They repeated this process during the flawed pre-launch for those that pre-ordered. It was so bad that the pre-launch time was mostly riddled with downtime but once again, little to no communication to their community and nothing was ever given to those that pre-ordered for the mess the pre-order community went through. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

So I must say that I am very appreciative of the communication we are receiving from Mathieu and the Eugen Team! Great job and keep it up. BTW my personal RUSE pre-order inclination went form about a 5 out of 10 to a 8 or 9 out of 10 due to the demonstration of your customer service skills. RUSE still has some issues that I am concerned about, and I will post those elsewhere in the RUSE forum, but based upon the effort I've seen lately I have little doubt that Eugen listens and cares about their community and in the current atmosphere of gaming communities that is a priceless quality.

Yes, they doing their work pretty good. As for me I don't mind this free weekend was this short. Its a huge success that the community could made this possible by asking/begging/crying for another beta of some kind. Though this release has it's problems and missing that little extra, I believe that the developer version is far ahead of this one. If the team hear our plea to fix and add the functionalities and features which we are asking/begging/crying about, then this would be the "almost the best RTS in the year". (I say this because Starcraft 2 will be the best for the next 10 years http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif ). I'll definitely buy this game, because it makes the genre as strategic as possible, leaving the "microfest" for the past.

Well they are listening to community allright in majority, but they did not listen to the most important thing that was RUSE expiring saturday evening, the response we got was ''DONT LISTEN TO STEA;'' now i guess Steam is NOT LISTENING to ruse/Eugen/Valve :P

thought we'd be able to play this awesome piece of strategy game until sunday 1pm. my steam games list told me yesterday, that my license is expired. can't start the game anymore or reinstall it.

please expand the free weekend about one day due to the problems with steam. that would be really, really kind.

Thanks for info. The only way which some of us can play still is to make a new steam account. But still it ends in few hours today and not monday. In my original account in steam the game is not anymore in the list and when i do steam://preload/33310 to pre load it sais licence expire and can't get in game anymore. I heared also that if u were in game when the licence expired u will be still to be able to play game AI but not multiplayer, unless u make a 2nd steam account so u can play both for few more hours.

Sorry to change the subject , but is it possible to make a little patch that , removes the auto-kick system? For the current time, i figure having the game freeze up 2 out of 10 games, is better than everyone being kicked out from time to time.

Have you opened the UDP ports ?
and turned gfx settings down to a moderate lvl.

Ruse has stopped working for me on Saturday around 22:30 CET and hasn't changed since. The game just doesn't start anymore, as others have described it. However I created a new Steam account with which I am able to play again.

Yes this works! create a new steam account and I am now playing again!...Make sure you click on the RUSE add where is says "click here to play".

I could see this being a Campaign Unit, but Germany already got great (though expensive) Artillery with the 155mm Howitzer and the 210mm Mörser + SKfZ234 "Wurfrahmen".
Actually, besides Fighter-Bombers and AA, Germany has the best of everything as upgrade (though the Me262 could use a little dogfight buff)!

Game doesn't appear in my library unless I can find the steam announcement about it on the store page, after clicking the "play now" option it appears in my game library. Unfortunately even after selecting it in my game library "purchase" has replaced the play button :\ this takes my hate for Valve to an all new level...

I also have the same issue, the game isn't in my Library. when I click the advertisement about Ruse on the Store front page, it adds it back to my Library but says I need to "Purchase" the product.

I honestly don't feel like creating a new Steam account just to play the remaining 9 hours, yet you've stated that it is indeed a 5 day trial, not 3/4ish.

Yes, it places the game back in my library, but the only option is to "Purchase." I can't just play.

I did create a new Steam account, and it works on there, even though it is showing that the beta will end in a few hours.

I have pinned this thread so people are aware that the problem is being looked at.

It has been decided that the Free Play weekend will be extended to Wednesday due to the problems.

It's gone from my games list and I cant figure out how to put it back on...if I click the download here button it sends me back to the steam store.

First off i would like to Say Thank u Very Much for Actually coming on here to help resolve the Issue to begin with Mathieu. As a Dedicated F.P.S.
