I'm currently starting to build my first campaign, a "what-if" which will be Russian-American forces Vs. German-Japanese forces in the Pacific. First missions I'm working on will be from the Russian point of view. Flying lend-lease carrier aircraft (Seafires, Wildcats, and Corsairs) off a lend-lease carrier (escort carrier). The Germans start off by sending pilots to fly as a squadron or two off Japanese carriers flying Zeros. Eventually, they will transition to Bf-109T's. I figured I'd base the German a/c off the thoughts from this thread (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/45410763/m/1911019854). I figured the Russian aircraft can wear the RAF/RN paint schemes. I just need some quick thoughts on the Russian insigia for this theater. I can go with 1, which the Soviets used on many lend-lease a/c. I can go with 2, which, like the RN's late war insignia, is just a variation of the US "star and bars". Then there is 3, basically 2, but with the star being outlined, soes to aviod confusing that plane with a Japanese plane.

I think that if these forces were indeed closely cooperating in the pacific, they would keep their default markings, but would have a distinguishing feature, like the normandy invasion stripes, or the axis white mediterranean stripe.
Just my opinion.
Regardless though, it's an interesting idea, and I like the markings you made.

I agree; though I do like the work you have put into making the new markings I would think as suggested above that the forces would have kept their own markings and had some sort of invasion stripes for identification.
Then again this is the fun of the "what if" scenario so for that matter I would go with No.2 or No.3 markings since they look like a mixture of Russian, American and British markings combined.

I like the posted idea for markings. It resembles the Axis way of marking their aircraft, where satellite nations used markings that resembled german cross, so they all looked alike at first sight.

Well, like I said originally, the first marking isn't a fictitious marking. It was on a lot of the P-39's and P-40's used by the Soviets.
