General Ontiveros != Carlos Ontiveros.

Seriously, whoever dropped the ball there needs to just quit and find another profession. All that was asked of him/her was to take the script from the console versions, and make sure the programmers and artists follow it, how hard is that?

Sure, you could argue the fact that they ran short on time and that it would be easier to combine the characters into one person and just leave out any audio or video that differentiates between the two characters, but they DIDN'T.

A pre-mission breifing on an earlier level clearly states Carlos as being the son of General Ontiveros, as well as several other videos. And guess who you kill at the end of the game? That's right Carlos, oh no wait, it's General now. No no, it was Carlos in the helicopter, but then it's General when he lands. What?

I felt like they'd taken whole chunks out of that mission, storyline wise.

I thought the story was...

Go to the green waypoint.
Go directly to the green waypoint.
Do not attempt to flank.
Do not use your initiative.

Frankly with a story based on such a preposterous and childish pretext, GRIN would have done well to have ditched it completely. perhaps just a discrete line of text between loading screens.
Console gamers and PC gamers don't want the same games.

and how did ontiveros get in the helo in the first place Carlos Ontiveros: The leader of Aguila Seven. The main antagonist in the game.

General Ontiveros: Carlos Ontiveros' father. Whose only role in the console story (which actually made sense) gets captured in Fierce Resistance (American Embassy).

Bud: Something of a best friend of Mitchell's. Gets shot by Carlos. Carlos then lands in Zocalo Plaza and has the final battle.

Except in the PC version, they combined the two Ontiveros characters and F'd up the entire story to the point it barely even makes sense.

Why aren't there games about stuff in Gaza/West Bank, Taiwan/China, Timor Leste, Papua, Sri Lanka?

There is "***a War"... that's episode based and the missions are built from the news.

It's supposed to be terrible though.
