Dolls,

You've got some pull with Ubi, right? Will you ask them to bring the excellent IL-2 Sturmovik to the 360 and/or Wii?

I was giving Over-G Fighters a try, and noticing that the graphics in Over-G are about the same as IL-2.

WWII dogfighting and bombing isn't nearly as complex as flying high-tech jets, so it should be easier to "consolize" IL-2, shouldn't it?

I'd love to play a more accessible version of IL-2 on the console. You'd probably have to give it a more mainstream name?

Either that or a realistic World War I/bi-plane game, maybe a version of "High Road to China" or "Blue Max"?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

They would have to do some serious compacting of the flight controls or remove some things altogether. You'd need some serious button mashing skills to fly "full real". Prop pitch, fuel mixture, throttle, turbo/super charger stages 1 and 2, engine on/off, and fire extinguisher (depending on plane) are for one engine. Multiply this by 2 or four depending on the plane. You also have flap position, dive brakes (depending on plane), nav & landing lights, guns 1 and 2, bombs & rockets, landing gear (both manual and hydraulic) and a switch for ligthing the instrument panel. Oh yeah, and the button I use the most - bail out http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I don't foresee IL2 hitting console anytime soon.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I never got Il-2 for pc, but I hear it is the best flight simulator game of all time.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Well, I know for a fact that I could at least take-off and fly/dogfight (not necessarily land, but I think I was able to do that, too) in IL-2 without relying on all of the buttons you're listing. I wasn't real good, but I was still having fun strafing, bombing, and chewing away at enemy planes.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

If you aren't having to worry about all that, you must have complex engine management turned off. Not that that's a bad thing; I can't fly and keep track of all that extra stuff and dodge enemy fire all at the same time.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I've never played Over-G Fighters or IL-2. Though it would be nice to see a good flight/combat type game for the 360 and/or Wii. Though it wouldn't even need to be a sim type game. I'd be happy with a new Crimson Skies or Star Fox.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have the whole Il-2 series and it is still the best combat flight sim ever released. However, it is best played on a PC which requires a lot of skill. I'm not sure consoles support joysticks instead of handhelds. But a joystick is a must for better control. I'm now playing the 1946 add-on for Il-2 Sturmoviks.

They'd have to do something along the line of Star Fox, Crimson Skies, or some other "arcade style" flight game. The controllers just don't have what would be needed for a "full real" sim. The IL2 series can be set up so that all the intricate detail work of flying is turned off. They should be able to do the same for the consoles. All you really need is brakes, flaps, throttle, landing gear, & my favorite button (eject) to fly on a console. Wonder how you'd manage the looking around thing? I use mouse & hat switch, the real nuts use TrackIR.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
