http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif There is a call from Marie Sutherland of the DRC to choose player representatives to act as liaisons.
Marie Sutherland chat log (http://www.drcsite.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=306)
DRC forum (http://www.drcsite.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=3) where we are dicussing the best method of selecting the player representatives, wether we need them at all, and a place to nominate yourself as a candidate.
http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I see a sane, calm, rational discussion there thankfully.

Yes, it's important that everyone who wants a voice - hop on over there and contribute to the discussion. Some of the excellent folks here have been nominated to be reps, and we wish them the very best! You can also go nominate yourself, should you choose to do so.
Go the end of the "Announcement from Marie Sutherland" thread and add your voice! Oh - reading some of that rather long thread would also be great!

On the DRC forum Share your journey (http://www.drcsite.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=3), there are also several threads about how to the voting will/might be conducted, and about what 'representation' is wanted. The sticky thread and the ones with "Official" in them seem to be the ones most worth checking out.
FYI, on the DRC Out of Cavern Discussions (http://www.drcsite.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=5) there is also an intesting thread Sticky: IC vs. OOC (http://www.drcsite.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=292) started by RAWA on 'In Character' play in the cavern.

Not many of you here probably recognize my name any longer, but I was once EXTREMELY active both in the UruLive! Prologue and in the various Online Communities. I stopped participating in any of the online communities at the same time that UruLive ceased to exist. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I could not bring myself to even THINK about Uru again for another 2 years...
This brings us up to now. I feel that I would be a good candidate for a few different reasons... 1> I am disabled, and home-bound, which translates out to that I have far more time on my hands than I would even begin to like to admit. 2> There was a time when I knew several of the major players in UruLive as well as being on a name-basis with many, many of the participants in the Prologue. Among other things, I ran a "Guild" neighborhood by the name of "The Guild of Inquiry"... Whose concept is, admittedly, outdated now and no longer applies, thus why I have not even begun to attempt to revitalize either that neighborhood or the concepts that I was postulating. <shrug> 3> I have now been the head of very successful guilds in several online games (some in the ensuing time between the death of UruLive and now... though, right now other than Until Uru, I am no longer participating in any of the Very formulaic online games out there which are comprised of constant fighting, leveling, buying new gear, rinse, repeat, ad infinitum.... I feel they do not truly serve the needs or desires of the role-play community, nor are they equipped, in their current formats, to be able to do so. UruLive was truly unique in this respect. In many ways...) 4> I am truly a people person. I was once asked by someone how I live from day to day with no true socialization to which I replied that this was actually very much not the case. I have -ALWAYS- had a group of people online who come to me for advice on their personal lives, metaphysics, computers (much to my chagrin -- I was a professional computer tech for several years and also worked Help Desk as well as shipping & receiving and ordering...heh) and many other things... I live for good conversations. More importantly, I can only feel truly fulfilled as a human being if I am helping others. <shrug> It is just my nature. Since I can no longer really leave my home to go out "into the real world" to do this, I have resorted to doing this both through various online communities as well as the other online games which have been on the market off & on, now, for many years.... Therefore, to sum up, I have ample time, more than enough expertise from both a technical and practical standpoint, and am a people person who likes to help others inasmuch as I am capable. Lastly, I have been heavily involved with the mythology that has gradually developed for the Myst franchise since 1995. I have played every single game, resorting to hints and walkthrough only as a last resort. I have read all three of the Myst-based novels by Rand Miller and David Wingrove. (I have actually read all three of them three times, believe it or not... Having just finished all three as preparation for playing Myst: End of Ages last year...) I have read every bit of information which has been spawned in reference to these things in the various "Library" communities online..always avidly, and usually voraciously. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (Some of which I have, admittedly, forgotten, and would need to brush up on... <smile>http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Additionally, I have participated in Live Theater for 24 years now. So, I am more than amply prepared and well-qualified for being a storyteller. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif (Especially considering that I have also been a semi-professional author.)
Now... You may ask yourself, why is this person being so audacious as to promote himself in such a way? Well, tonight I had a discussion with "Leonor" on the D'mala Shard in the Uru Obsession Neighborhood... In which I was detailing some of the rather heavy things that I have had to deal with lately, and I had an epiphany: Why was it 2 days ago that I had tears streaming down my face when I logged back into (the now called) Until Uru? Because I felt like I was FINALLY being given the chance to "go home" again... As though I had joined Saavedro in "Exile" and was finally, FINALLY being allowed to go back to the place that I had chosen to consider my "safe place in the universe" (as nutty as I am sure that will sound to some of the more cynical among you -- <laugh>http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif. Back in the days of UruLive's Prologue, I spent a significant portion of each day that I was logged in to the client helping other people... Whether this was by giving hints, advice, or "physically" taking the time to go with them to their own ages and solve puzzles upon which they needed help and support. I had decided to join the Guild of Greeters, or to at least to ATTEMPT to join.... Only to have UruLive take a total nosedive less than a week later... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
However, this does not address my audacity for posting on you kind peoples' thread. For that, I will simply say: I was a fool. I should have NEVER allowed myself to give up hope, and yet I did. <shrugs & sighs apologetically> I really believed that once something as great, and grand a venture as an online community which was NOT dedicated to killing and violence had FAILED...that it couldn't POSSIBLY come again... And yet... There are rumors of rumors among us... Moreover, I logged back into Uru for the first time in 2 years... And cried... However, because of my ignorance, and my faithlessness, and my lack of hope, none of you knows my name. Therefore, that is why I am so audacious as to interrupt you good peoples' lives.
One last thing that I would like to point out is this: I invested a LOT of time in UruLive when it was still functioning. I met many of the "big names" in the game and spoke with and rubbed shoulders with them. I even had a relatively popular fansite for URU at the time which served as one of the earlier bases for knowledge and tips for the game. Moreover, I WANT this to succeed. I WANT for the DRC to communicate with the Explorers. I am WILLING to do whatever is necessary to interface with them, and then bring that back to the community. The time for devisiveness is over, I say. I think it's time we all start working together toward actually RESTORING D'ni, if that is our true goal!
If you have read these ramblings, I thank you for taking the time, and for possibly considering me. If not...Well, then, you have lost nothing either way... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif If you have and feel anger toward me, please understand, that was not my intention... and I beg your forgiveness in advance.
Thank you.
