Black Square Boxes in James Cameron's Avatar PC

Specs:

AMD Radeon 5870
Windows 7 Final 64-bit

Tried Cat 9.11 and Dirt2 Hotfix driver. Same issue.

Playing in DirectX 10 mode and 4XAA. All settings maxed out. During cinematics and gameplay random large square black boxes appear on screen. No, it isn't a problem with my GPU -- and for the most part the black boxes don't appear, but when they do its really annoying.

I had the same issue. To get around it, I hit ALT-Enter which switched the screen to windowed mode. When I hit ALT-Enter again it switched back to full screen. In full screen I get low-fps maxed out so I play in windowed mode instead.
