First off, welcome aboard! You will find this community of superb individuals not only to be International in nature, but professional, mature and very helpful. You would be hard-pressed to find a better community such as this one.

To answer your question. The Vanilla (stock) version nor any mods that you add will not allow you to request or be granted a new set of orders.

The key to this game is to reach and patrol your assigned area for 24 hours. You can see if you have completed this task by either typing the F8 key, or mouse over to your hidden "quick jump" toolbar on the left side of the screen and select "Mission Objectives". After you have completed your patrol, you may stay there or roam the entire map at your leisure... the choice is yours!

Like all new Kaleuns who joins this community, I highly recommend that you download SH3 Commander. This stand-alone program allows you to manage your crew, assign a custom patrol grid, go to a night club, adjust game play settings and much more! You may find it here:

Once again, welcome aboard. We hope to hear more from you soon.

ah well, won't be the first time a game came with documented features that actually don't work http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

cheers for the quick response, though.

many thanks

The Manual is incorrect! They didn't have time to incorperate the escort into base.

In regards to your orders, the only orders you get are to patrol an area for 24 hours. After that you can go hunting wherever you want! you don't even have to patrol your assigned area(but you will take a renown hit).

Try sailing to AM51/AM52(fuel permitting) after you have patroled your assigned area, lots of ships and convoys usually passing through there!

I also recommend the SH3Gen (generator). You will find it at subsim.com It will give you an additional mission besides your patrol area. It will also plot enemy minefileds, subnets and moored vessels. It also provides info on refueling vessels i.e. Thalia. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I think we discussed this in another thread yesterday about "Deadlines". What a pitty. I hope they don't make this mistake with SH4.

Get yourself commander 2.7 also, as yu can then qualify both your radio man and your hydrophone man. This makes them much more efficient. You can also then turn off the stupid fatigue mode, as this is completely unrealistic
