Gun battles

I don't make a habit of getting into gun battles with other ships, but can you actually destroy a deck gun on a merchant or DD. I did a little searching, but didn't find much other than don't try. I'm running stock v1.5

I have been able to take down guys that are just standing around on the deck of a ship. But never have I been able to kill a guy(s) that were operating a gun, of any kind. I have dropped a round right at their feet to no avail. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

You'd either have to get a lucky shot or get close enough to aim accurately. Problem is, as you get closer, their accuracy improves too. But, yes, you can take out their guns with a direct hit.

Yep. Lucky shots are about it for me. I like hitting the depth charge racks though..

The one time I ever had to get into a gun duel with an escort it was because if I didn't surface, I'd be deep-sixed. I ran for the surface at flank, blew ballast came up like a bobber, hopped on deck and jumped into the gunner' chair...fired for just below the forward deck gun where I figured the magazine was and BANG! hehe...my my how the tables have turned, spent 20 minutes pumping shells into his hide out of pure spite before he went under. The luckiest day ever, I swear.
