carreer lost when re-starting game?

When i leave sh-3 and start up the program my career is deleted complete with all the saves! though my naval acadamy remaines untouched! showing all courses as succeeded. I finished 2 patroll,s with some successes now i must start all over again . There was about 6 hours of work in those patrolls. Anybody elese have this problem? How can this be fixed? I hate to have to leave to program after multeple patrolls , Then get passes the startforce problem taking an hour and a half to 2 hours in intself then work for 6 hours at my career and then come back and have it all be for nothing? Could the starforce be responsible? i have to enter the cd key every-time! and the cd key gives error with the right key to work eventually!
