Last checkpoint of cooler

Greetings All,

Anyone got any tips for getting to the objective of valarie's last known position? (from 2nd last checkpoint to end of level)
I'm sitting in the entrance to a vent with a small room leading into a corridor half filled with water, I remember from easier levels that fatboy is com'in round the corner within seconds of me jumping down and I've got to get to a room with two trigens in it. This is very difficult on higher difficulties such as veteran and realistic. I can get to the room OK, but can't take out the first trigen with a full clip from the AG36 (very hard to aim when he's moving and the water bogs you a bit), immediately after this fatboy has got me in extremely close quarter and there's the other trigen in this room to get which is only metres from me by now. Swapping weapons in mid fight to the M5 ( which is pretty weak and all I have apart from RL and SR) is awkward and then you get killed from either fatboys rockets or the 2nd trigen jumps you. I believe this is covered in the tips sticky already.

But... you can run around the fatboy without to much damage and make it to the door where the trigens are. You have to quickly take out the one on the table before going in. Use short bursts with the ag36 crouch and use the scope if needed. A couple short burst to the head/upper chest should take them out. After you get the first one move in and take out the second one. There are several good strategies.

1. Jump down and use the lean function to look around the corner. Lob a grenade to the end of the room then pump shotgun shells into the fat boys head until he goes down. The RL is not very effective. He will fire rockets at you but they will hit the wall in front of you. You will take damage though. Reload and face the two monkeys with grenades and M4 or shotgun.

2. Hide and wait for the fat boy to get near you then run past him. he will not be able to follow all the way down the corridor. Take care of the monkeys then go back to kill the fat boy if you want.

No, I haven't seen it in the 10 pages of that thread, when you say "tips" thread I presume you are referring to the "Single Player Tips, Tactics and SPOILERS" thread?

Hence my subject on this particular part of cooler, and the search function narrowed down to the last couple of months with the new patches does not show anything on this part of the level.

I don't know about others, but some of the tips in that thread for taking out enemies with headshots and minimal ammo, don't work on higher level difficulties or if they do, then they are working on rigs that don't have hardware capable of supporting the full spectrum of the A.I. potential in real time.
For example - I can't remember the exact page but someone says you can take out a fatboy with a one shot from the sniper rifle. Rubbish! not or realistic or even veteran level, I know because in Rebellion, I had to pump 5 shots into its head before the fatboy BEGINS to show signs of weakening.

Regardless of that try to just run around the fatboy and... etc.

It is pretty easy, but the timing has to be right.. but not critical. One weapon to keep
with you is the 50 shot SMG. It's rate of fire is much higher than the rest, and it buys
you time .. esp here. When you first jump down from the vent, go to the corner and see
the Fat Boy coming down the hall. Wait until he just gets to you (hide) and then run
around him and run in a big S down the hall. Run to the door of the room with 2 trigens.
Fire steady at the trigen on the table. You will get him while still on the table, but
keep firing so the SMG reloads ( that is quickest ). Go in the room just inside the
door. The other trigen has to go around the table, and that slows him down. Blast him
with the 50 shot. No problem. Even if the Fat Boy has come up behind you, he can't
come in the door, and his rockets can't reach you. Now go to the door where Val is located.
Get prepared. Have the 50 shot reloaded and be ready with grenades. Open the door .. don't
go in ... and start throwing grenades over the tables to your right. You will either
get both trigens or you will weaken them .. be ready with the 50 shot and move in just
a little to take them out if the grenades don't get them. This is really pretty easy, but
you have to remember to only go in to 2 doors just a little.

If you still have a problem whacking the 2 trigens after avoiding fatboy (no need to shoot him) remember to click on your wonderful CryVision goggles. It will really help you pick 'em up in the darkened room, and also improve your ability to aim.

Yeah, I know - you've got to have the RIGHT weapon for any given situation to be effective. With the lot I've got, its not going to cut it I think. Will have to go back several checkpoints to pick the SM P90 again, that one's always been one of my favs, but ammo can be scarce at times especially after taking out hallways of trigens and of course using the cryvision seems so obvious, its sometimes too easy to forget when your in the heat of the moment http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
