I meant to post this earlier but I kept forgetting/getting busy.

My grandmother made me an awesome quilt for my birthday, and I thought you guys might appreciate it because...

Woman's got mad quilting skills. And she just turned 75.

What's a gamer quilt? x:

Do you use it to snug up while you game?

Sweet quilt though, I wish I still had grammas that made me stuff. :/

It's a gamer quilt because

1. I use it while gaming
2. I bring it to gaming events where sleeping on the floor is a necessity
3. it has a panda playing games on it!

Hey, you also need to show the panda pillow that your Grandma made to go with the quilt! I know the pillow isn't playing a game but it is kind of awesome, too. And it does go with the gaming quilt.

Cool...I would love it if someone made me a gaming related quilt! Handmade gifts are the best. My husband's best friend's girlfriend (confused yet?) made her man a Mega Man blanket. Sorry, but you'll get the short version... mainly because I forgot to respond last night when I had more time.

So the theory goes something like this: pandas are inherently depressed. That much is obvious. They sustain themselves on a diet of food that is inherently not very nutritious, when--as bears--they could be killing and eating the local wildlife. Of course, being endangered is what leads to most of their sadness, so much so to the point where they no longer have the will procreate (you know, like some of those uppity Europeans.)

Being emo, though, has its dark side. I don't mean a dark side like the 15yr old boy looking for attention by giving himself superficial cuts on his arms with a razor blade. I mean a dark side that stems from a true emo-rage. Pandas, however, are smart. And they realize that in their small numbers, they can never content with the awesome predatory instincts of humans with guns. Or humans with knives. Or humans drinking alcohol. Or human males showing off to females. Or any other sort of human behavior that is really just a cover up for our own insecurities.

Their plan: to distract the world with things so cute, our eyes might as well explode with joy. In truth, our eyes will be exploding all right. From panda paw slaps to our faces. You see, all cute things in the world come from either cats or pandas (cats are inherently evil... god I love them, but they're also too lazy to do anything. Their main goal is manipulation into getting someone to feed them or change their litter box.) Pandas' cute invasion is this distraction that will allow them to take over the world.

Soon, the world will be flooded with items like the panda quilt and pillow, Brooke's bow will catch on as a popular fashion fad. Lolcats, that perverse cutsey corruption of the awesome might of Caturday will be posted in every office. Bunnies will frolic free! Everything will be cute, and good, and innocent! And while the world stops to take it's collective "Daaaaaawwwww," at all of the cute around them, the pandas will strike.

And it will be done. In a matter of days, they will strike the major central governments, plunging the world into chaos. Without a way to adequately organize, humanity will fall. Our collective fascination with the cute things of the world will be our undoing, and a creature too sad to procreate enough to sustain its own population will destroy us all.

Hahaha. Weaselboy, you have quite the imagination. But I did enjoy your theory and the elaborate explanation that supports it.

If your theory has any truth to it, it's my contention that the Pandas may have taken on some minions to help them with their evil plan to create chaos via cuteness. Obviously, Jess's Grandma is one of their newly recruited evil minions.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but since I still see a lack of hand-made panda pillows (outside of what Brooke posted which, btw, still bring me great amounts of joy http://media.ubi.com/us/forum_images/gf-glomp.gif ) I feel I must post my FULL warning.

In the beginning, there was nothing. And then, there were pandas. The noble and gentle panda had humble beginnings. As conscientious objectors to the traditional bear ways of killing and carnivorous activity, they migrated to the only area peaceful enough to sustain their lifestyle: Tibet. Tibet was a perfect place for them, quiet and free. There was never any conflict, but the mighty panda became depressed. It's main source of food was vegetation, berries, and other non-carnivorous things. In their haste to object to their carnivorous roots, they did not properly plan their new diet, and the Tibetan area could only marginally sustain their girth. Panda slowly slipped into a mild depression as they attempted to better their diet. This trend of peaceful depression and diet evolution persisted for hundreds of years until their dreaded enemy, an unnamed evil force, appeared and drove them into Central China. And once, again, after the great panda migration, they were at peace but the cycle of culinary improvement ceased as bamboo presented itself as the main source of readily available food--a food source that was even less nutritious than the long-forgotten food they consumed in Tibet.

The peace and depression lasted for thousands of years; no end in sight, but with no foreseeable periods of greater sadness. The pandas accepted that, as long as their diet got no worse, this was an acceptable sacrifice to maintain the moral high ground over their savage cousins.

And then, the Communists came. They pushed and pushed with their farmland, and machines, and people. The pandas were pushed into even smaller regions, and the overcrowding became unbearable. They became so emo they lost their drive for even the most basic survival necessities. Mating became a chore instead of a beautiful natural activity (a trend some uppity Europeans would take in the 21st century.) Foraging for food became life, instead of being a means to sustain a happy life. The pandas' sadness grew, and a dark, primal force inside of them was awakened. It was not the darkness a 15yr old kid looking for attention claims, as he or she gives themselves superficial cuts on his arms with a razor blade. I mean a dark side that stems from a true emo-rage. The rage built as their territory shrunk. Their plight was not without its own silver lining. The Chinese, in their fascination with the mighty, reclusive, panda, held them up as a national icon (or maybe those crazy westerners just assumed the Chinese held the panda in high regard.)

Pandas are naturally very intelligent and moral creatures. They base their actions on what they believe is right, and they thoroughly examine all logic to their decisions (hence it taking them a long time to do... well... anything.) Months passed, and the pandas learned of their high standing. Public opinion became the catalyst to what some describe as the coming "Pandageddon." By putting on a show, by having captive pandas sneeze and scare their children, by introducing all manner of distracting cuteness into the world, the mighty panda can strike. They are smart enough to know they cannot carry out their vengeance through strength of numbers. Their numbers are too depleted for such a feat. They realize that in their small numbers, they can never content with the awesome predatory instincts of humans with guns. Or humans with knives. Or humans drinking alcohol. Or human males showing off to females. Or any other sort of human behavior that is really just a cover up for our own insecurities. But distract the world, and they can have anything.

Their method of distraction is as devious as it is simple: play at peoples' emotions, their wants to believe in the good, and cute, and innocent. Soon, everything will be so incredibly adorable, our eyes might very well explode with joy. And explode they will. They will explode from the mighty panda paw that will be brought to bear against upon our faces. The emo-rage of a thousand rage of panda depression will explode all over our faces. Of course, cats (the other main source of "cute" in the world,) are inherently evil... god I love them, but they're also too lazy to do anything. Their main goal is manipulation into getting someone to feed them or change their litter box. And where cats fail for allowing their own poop to exceed their grasp (or is it the other way around?) Pandas know exactly how far their reach extends: the three feet or so it will take them to be within a comfortable mauling range.
