Trouble extracting Demo

Hi. I downloaded the demo, but after extracting the files and going into "reading files" it bombs out with the message that there's not enough room on the C drive. However, there's over 40 GB of free space on the C drive. I defragmented it, and tried again but I'm still stuck. Any ideas.

My system:
Windows XP (5.1 Build 2600)- Service Pack 1 (I hope this isn't the problem, because I've never gotten my system to boot successfully with SP 2 installed.)
Athlon 64 2800+
512MB RAM
Direct X: 9.0c
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Soundmax Digital Audio
Western Digital 80 GB SATA HD WD80 0JD-00HKA0

Please help.

Right click the homm5_demo.exe and choose extract to \homm5_demo.
Then run setup from the disk1 dir inside that dir.
Btw c:\ is your windows drive right?
