I would much appreciate some help in what to type in the axis boxes correctly and to get the joystick working.
Is there a down load of instructions that I can follow.
thanks

Audy Maybe this can be of help: a post with some pics (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8071032709/m/8601030919?r=1881071919#1881071919) on assigning Axes controls.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Nope - it's a bug within the sim, confirmed by its occurance with many users.

It's affecting people with HOTAS sets with multiple axes - in other words the Sim is only detecting the first few axes and then no further.

The first few?

How many is 'a few'?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v668/fooltrottel/axes.jpg
Here's three different game devices, and successful assignment of X, Y, U and RZ... Does that count as 'a few'?
(And there's two more, not shown in the picture)

thanks for all your help. I have now got the joystick working. I did have it connected to a USB hub and changed it to the USB connection straight to the pc.
now to configure the keys
Thanks again

I can confirm that on Windows 7 64 bit that the axes will not detect whether plugged in directly or indirectly.

Whether you disable steamcloud, try changing configuration files or anything else suggested.

This looks like a bug.

FT it is a game bug, I have spent nearly two weeks trying to set up my CH Controllers, and quite simply on my Win 7 64 bit system, the game does not see my controller axes.

I am not alone, and it is not confined to CH Controllers there are many that are having the same problem.

And before anyone tries to tell me how to assign axes, I do read manuals and I do know how to assign the axes, in my game it is BROKE.

Strange because with my MS FF2 joystick I just connected it and it worked fine once I set up the aircraft airelons etc to use joystick 1 instead of the default joystick 2. I mean the default settings are stupid in this game - how many people use two joysticks! Anyway all I did was click on the joystick setting in the controller setup and it waits for the joystick input, and then I just moved my joystick on the axis I wanted to use and it worked straight away. And this is wilth Win 7 64 bit. There are quite a few controls that need remapping in this game that are completely nonsensical - and with the patch they all got set back to defaults again so I am just so glad I saved my original settings!

There must be more to it... a driver thing maybe?

Did you try to first move all controller's axes to all their extents before firing up the game?
Maybe it expects them to be fully (auto)calibrated first?

Post a DXdiag(64) report, the Direct Input Devices section, of your system.

The fact that there's only a hub listed there, and not even one other USB device strikes me as being odd... Mine has more USB devices, though not all are listed... weird...
Are all drivers (if applicable) for the game controllers installed correctly?

No, but you have to understand that it is working perfectly for many more people than it is not, this points less to a game bug and more to a problem with the PC, or more likely a combo of both. The only way to figure out where the problem lies is to ask these kinds of exhaustive/detailed questions. Maybe there is a bug in the game that affect a setup where A,B,C exists, maybe there is a bug in some peoples system that only shows up for CloD since CloD is looking for something specific.

Post a DxDiag report.

The path to a solution lies in finding the cause, that's the first step.

Feel your pain Bibi, I'm in the same boat, and it is really frustrating to be patronised by many people who reply to requests for help.

Just for your information guys, both Bibi and I KNOW what we should be doing, the problem is IT ISN'T WORKING.

FoolTrottel
04-15-2011, 01:14 AM
You must be kidding.

You know what is frustrating?

* Posting suggestions, that appear to be completely ignored. No relevant feedback.

* Trying to be helpful by posting clear instructions, (even taking the effort to put in some screenshots) then getting blamed for being patronising, as if one should be able tell by your posting style how competent you are with computers. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

* Asking questions, not getting relevant answers, but getting replies like 'It's a game bug' 'It works in other games' (It's not 'just a bug', if it were, it wouldn't work for anybody.)

* You both (but mainly Bibi) are lacking severely in reporting back what exactly you've tried to do, and what the results of those attempts were. (Bibi, you haven' even stated what OS you are using! And no, you cannot expect of anyone to guess that, or to research other threads where you may have mentioned it)

Just for your information: we all know IT ISN'T WORKING ... for you.

Just for your information: we are trying to help.

In my opinion, you both do not know what you should be doing. Not in the analysis/troubleshoting department anyways...
Indeed you both are in the same boat...

What I stated here is exactly what Urufu did in his reply at the top of this page ... and he's a smart guy, as he stopped replying here all together. So I'm gonna join him in that now.

good luck.

I had the same problem with my old and oh-so-trusty Logitech Wingman Extreme joystick. I could not make it work at first. So I checked all my Windows 7 64bit settings. The joystick was fine here. So I decided that IL2 CoD might need the most up to date drivers. I downloaded the latest Logitech drivers, reinstalled it all and Voila! it worked! Now I am flying like nobody's business in CoD and Loving IT!

I had trouble with my saitek joystick & pedals at first also.
Is there a chance that you havent selected the function - say rudder, then clicked on 'CHANGE' then moved the rudder pedals to confirm. ? ? ?
You may need to click on reverse if they work the wrong way around. Just thought I would mention it.

Are you serious ? I'm having a similar issue, the controller mappings all change and are recognized in the settings and I even save them Ok but once I start the sim, nothing ... no control whatsoever.
I also use a Saitek Cyborg Gaming Keyboard ... Ubi or 1C or Oleg or somebody's gotta buy me a new keyboard I'm thinking http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Have Saitek X52Pro Stick, Throttle and Rudder pedals. They work. Just did 2 take-offs with the Moth. Was useing the the old reliable Logitech Extreme 3DPro for training. This is the first time I have used Rudder Pedals !

Just downloaded the Il2 file from Saitek, called it Cliffs of Dover, then put the input to the Rudders(edit: Throttle) in the game interface and it worked. All the Device Manager HID's are Enable too.

BTW, everything is set to the most high settings for graphics. Only the flickering of Tree Shadows is distracting.
Have not set the moniter for its' best (highest native) resolution yet.( Edit:Sorry , now have reset graphics to Full quality, not as before. Flickering is gone. Moniter is 1920x1080. )

I finally got the game today, have to say, I'm appalled that you have to manually map and configure every function on the joystick (apart from the prop pitch that was mapped to the trigger!?!!?).

I could understand it if I had some obscure joystick that I'd built myself - but having to do this on a MS FFB2 is a joke. I can't remember having such a depressing first-play experience in 15yrs of PC gaming. Visually, looks not markedly any better than a modded IL-2 46. The sounds were probably better in European Air War which came out in 98 - these are truly terrible and a complete immersion smasher.

Performance, poor on an i7 940 overclocked to 3.6ghz, ati HD6870, 6GB of DDR3 memory. Win7 64bit.
