My first thought when reading about this in the new issue of GameInformer (Which by the way confirms that it is an earthquake of 10.9 on the richter scale) was that this would be SWEET!
But in reality, wouldn't help arrive within twenty-four hours? GI said there was loosetalk (in the game) that a rescue attempt would be made in five days. In reality the Coast Guard and Army and National Guard would be there near instantly to try and rescue survivors.

That thing has been taken care of. The rescue operation failed(or didn't even come - that's not confirmed yet). The game wouldn't be so fun if there was no mystery, would it? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Maybe there could have been something similar to what happened to Gotham city(the batman one) in "No Man's Land". But we'll come to know the truth only once we play the game - maybe even later, because it might be a trilogy.

i thought about this last night and was wondering something... It said in GI that the earthquake only affect Chicago, so I wondered why nobody would help yet. But I hadn't takent eh whole "Assassin's Creed 2" theory into account. SOmehting I thought up could be that maybe the whole area of CHicago has beem transported back in time or something ridiculous... I know it sounds drastic, but perhaps that's why they are so desperate for water and there isn't any further outside help... yet.

haha time travel is always a possibility xD that would be wild if that was the case! I've also heard that it could also be that Chicago completely got detached from the mainland???? xD either way it would be cool

The idea for this game is awesome and it sounds amazing. However, I have to ask if you are a little derranged in proposing a AC2 crossover?? wtf these are two completely separate games. and this one has a trailer already and will probly come out like on 2010 maynbe while Assassins creed wont hit the market until like 2015 or so.

Tonnes of games have crossed over in the past. I can't see it being linked to AC2, but it isn't impossible and I'm going to guess we will most certainly of already seen AC2 by 2015..

Also, it could be detatched and of floating miles and miles away, but within hours at most helicopters at the very least would of gotten to it, so I don't know. We'll just have to wait and see.

2015!!?? You're quite the slow worker type, aren't you - you work for 3D Realms perhaps? AC2 will release in the fiscal year 2009-10. That's before March 2010. Of course, it might be delayed(like IAA http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif), but not till 2015! I think we would have played AC3 by then!

Lets be realistic, I don't know how much you guys know about earthquakes but a 10.9 would affect far more then just one city. This earthquake wasn't natural if it only affected Chicago.

or maybe as in the thread "everything we know aobut i am alive"
the city has seperated or even worse everything has and nothing can be rescued

It would be awesome if it was time travel, but to the time of DINOSAURS! So you would have to compete for water and escape (emphasis on escape, i don't want this to be like turok or anything...) from the dinosaurs as well.

I don't think that 5 days is an unrealistic response time for a disaster of this magnitude. Look how long it took to get help into New Orleans after Katrina, and we're taking about a hypothetical situation much, much worse.

Yeh that is True dude. If something like this did happen help would arrive with in atleast 24 hours, If not sooner. However We don't know the fool extent of the damage. For all we know another 2/3 or even more earthquakes could of happened in another place. So let's keep an open mind on in, and let's try get through it together till the game finally comes out. When ever that may be!

This game has to have some kind of sci-fi element to it, for that much time to pass without aid. Infamous comes to mind. Also Chicago is surrounded by fresh water, so I imagine that huge water source must be tainted for there to be so much of an emphasis on demand for water in the game. But I am interested looks nice and could play well.

Maybe...the earthquake wasn't just Chicago.

If the time travel theory were true, is anyone else thinking its the spawning of the Legend of Atlantis?

Errr, not really. Infamous was just the whole city being blown to hell after the explosion that gave Cole his powers. But IAA is the whole city being torn to hell, and it's about Adam's survival and finding his girlfriend Alice. Actually Chicago (in the game) had been detached from the mainland. It's now an island floating in the water and obviously there's no water supply coming to Chicago.

Think.
Chicago is floating around in the ocean. And the rescue team fails?
How?
Maybe, they have BIGGER cities to attend too, if you know what I mean.

In reality the Coast Guard and Army and National Guard would be there near instantly to try and rescue survivors. dude what country do u live in katrina took them 7 days to even make plans. and if a 10.9 hit it would affect the whole country and then some.
