Ladies and Gentlemen start your engines....or at least your Upgrade Launchers to update your Beta Build! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I assure you, you'll love the new Patch! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif (Please note: After the Installation the Ingame Chat & Teamchat is now on the F5 and F6 key's!)

Here's the offical word from Annecy:

First of all, we wish to thank all of you for your feedback on the game. The forums were very active and the bugs database grew regularly. This is pretty cool. Our feeling is that you like the gamedesign modifications we did compared to Pandora Tomorrow, the game seems still balanced and is running quite fine. So we are quite happy about the way this beta test is going.

Still, your feedback have led us to make a few changes and a patch is about to be released.

We have changed a few gadgets that you felt were not useful enough:

- The Tazer's range has been modified (it's simpler to taze a spy)
- The Flares remain active much longer but you can no longer refill on ammunitions box. Also there is a 4sec delay between two shots. ClubHouse is not a very dark level so you may not find if much more useful. But on other maps like Museum2 it will be very strong. So please try it.
- The Heart Beat Sensor is now much stronger : it detects a merc immediately and shows his position on the radar. Please give us some feedback on it.
- The Laser Mine no longer produces sound. A spy will have to use his thermal vision to detect them (as in Pandora Tomorrow)
- The spy trap no longer informs a spy once it has marked him
- Once it has detected a spy, the Presence Detector can no longer be removed or fired as long as it is active.
- The shotgun's damages have been increased too.

Also you now have an option at the bottom of the keyboard menu that enables you to choose how you wish to use the mouse wheel : either for quick gadget selection or for speed mode. Also an icon is now displayed onscreen when you are in slow speed mode. You can also use Alt key in keyboard configuration.

The servers list filters are now saved and the information about the servers displayed are updated regularly. Names in friends list are now sorted by alphabetical order. Clients can leave the lobby room before the server launches the game.

We have also fixed a number of bugs. As this post is already a bit big, I will enumerate just a few of them:

- a spy will not produce any sound when doing a soft landing on clients (it was working on the host only)
- sometimes the spy could be seen in EMF vision after using his binocular
- a few bugs were fixed regarding the blinking Friends menu
- you cannot exit the console with the console key anymore
- sticky cam can no longer be heard from a long distance anymore
- the camo suit will work fine on ATI Radeon 9000 and 9200

Finally here are some stuff on which we would like to have more feedback:

- please play in ranking mode. It doesn't change anything and it helps us see if there are any bugs on this
- if you have not done so before, we would appreciate that you use all servers options (tutor, alternate, games in a row, revenge, random maps and of course all game modes).

Hope you will enjoy this patch!

Please note we intend to pursue the beta process for about two more weeks. This gives you enough time to evaluate the changes we made, enjoy the game and give us some feedback.

- Ubisoft Annecy, developers of the Splinter Cell Versus Mode

Nice fixes.

Is this bug has been fixed yet:
-Hearing falling shells even if the merc is at the opposite of the map

I would like to see these features:
-Adding more info on how to config firewalls (like the Win XP one) and router with CT. There still too much players with "Ping request" disabled on their firewall or router. It's annoying when you connect to a server located thousands miles away and you don't know the ping.

-Adding the ping to the player list. CT is one of the rare game where we cannot see our ingame ping.

-Adding a mic icon to see if our voice reaches the other players, like in Counter-Strike. Sometimes, I keep speaking in the mic, then, just at the end of the game, I realize that my mic wasn't fonctionning.

-Adding a mic icon for other players too with their name beside the icon, like in Counter-Strike of course. :P

-Ability to send private messages over the friend list.

-Ability to continue playing even if I lost the doomed connection to UBI.com .

It's nice to see that Ubi implemented a speed indicator. Silent drops are an excellent addition. It's also nice to see that the people who wanted mouse scroll for speed got what they wanted. I'm also very happy that they've orgasnized the friends list. The spelling fixes are a nice addition that make it look much cleaner. Very nice changes overall. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You guys have our thanks for listening in so closely to what we had to say...you'll see that in the long run this will work best not only for us but for you(ubi) as well as less people will have stuff to complain about. This patch is indeed what the game needed. The wheel/speed change was one of the most important changes imho(now I can snipe incredibly fast having the zoom on MMB). Also all the other corrections where of course really critical.

Now only a few little things to left to fix and we shall have ourselves the masterpiece of a multiplayer game that this is destined to be:

1) Falling shells can be heard everywhere on the map! (guys?this can't be so hard to fix now, right?)

2) The apostrophe button doesn't invoke the console in game (halleluuja!) but it still does in the lobby! (Argh! annoying! just bind it with the tilde(~) key and let it me done with!)

3) Split jump! It's still not working!!! (people this is the signature move of Splinter Cell since the name Sam Fisher was first thought of! You gotta have this work!)

4) Mercs can shoot their weapons while being thrown of balconies resulting in the death of the spy as well as the merc. (We've mentioned this one quite some times but I guess it's not that easy to spot every bug worth dealing with in this sea of voices)

5) I'm not sure if the texts in the equipment descriptions have been corrected but if I had to guess I'd say they haven't cause last time I read them (before the patch) they seemed like they were written by someone whose native language wasn't English, and now that I read them again they still give the same impression. Have them looked at...not a big deal I'm sure...they kinda spoil the game's image the way they are now.

That's it for now...I'm sure my fellow messageboard posters will dig out more but I believe these 5 points (at least the first 4) are bugs that should definately be dealt with before the final version hits the shelves.

EDIT: I just saw Rhoullete's message. I'll just copy paste these comments on the official bug report thread then. (@Moderator)If the duplicate post is an inconvinience feel free to erase this one.

Couple of things...
quote:
Originally posted by SHARPSHARK:

quote:
Originally posted by ReverendCuster:

and finally...
quote:
Originally posted by Vth_F_Smith_:
Edit: Oops, I guess cooldude6681 was faster! <=)

Well, your answer is more complete/accurate. But hey, I beat an Ubisoft dev (?) to the punch--I'm giddy with glee and, like Amn-23, easily amusedhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Thanks for the patch--I love everything but the increased shotgun powerhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifnow everyone (almost) is going to be using the shotgun because it's so easy to kill spies. but I guess I shouldn't complain and just be happy with what Ubisoft gives us. Thanks again.

Yeah, I accedently osted this in the CT forum http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif. I like it because now I have a working Camo Suit! One thing though, what button do you press to chat in-game? I tried almost every button and I can't talk at all. Makes it hard to be a team.
