I think I am turning into a photo posting junkie, now that I have learned the procedure.

Here are a few more photos taken while engaged against other taskforces. These are from taskforce encounters prior to the one in which I sank the two Nelson BB's.

This first series of photos is from a taskforce that had 2 Revenge BB's and a Southampton CL, escorted by 5 destroyers. My setup was similar to that in my other attack, except this attack was delivered from a different direction. In this encounter the two BB's were sailing before me, and the CL was in line behind one of the BB's. I chose not to attack the CL because I wished to have two torpedoes for each BB.

I fired my first salvo of 2 electric torpedoes at the farthest BB, because they are slower and would require more time to reach the target. I was hoping to then fire my next salvo of 2 steam torpedoes at the nearer BB. As they were faster and the target was closer, they would require less running time to hit. The intention was to have all 4 torpedoes strike at about the same time, to reduce the chance of the second ship to zigzag away from the next series of torpedoes. As the photos show, my timing was excellent, both BB's being hit at the same time.

After being struck both BB's and the escorts turned on their searchlights and commenced the hunt. Both BB's eventually sunk, but my log showed only credit for one. This has happened to me before, not getting credit because of a slowly sinking ship. I'm not sure how the game times it, but you can lose credit if the ship takes a long time to sink. I'm not certain how that works. If not for this "bug" I would have to my credit two double-BB kills.

If you look closely at this photo, over the hull you will see a lifeboat which flew up into the air as the BB sank. I thought it was rather interesting so I include it here:

Later, on another patrol after this one, I encountered another taskforce. This one was a closely run affair. I was about 200 miles away when I got the report. It was to the southwest of me, steaming north. Immediately I headed west, for a point on a line which I drew based on the TF's direction. Approaching the general area where I hoped to make contact, I dove for a hydrophone check. I was rewarded with the sound of ship's propellers at about 300 degrees. Knowing that it was near and that I had not much time to intercept the faster ships, I immediately surfaced and ran at best speed, not charging batteries in order to squeeze out every knot I could from my upgraded engines. Before sunrise, a lookout spotted ships. It was the taskforce. There was a Southampton CL and a Courageous carrier [CV.]

I proceeded on the surface at maximum speed as closely as I dared, trying to get ahead of the group. I was not able to do so as there were 2 Tribal class DD's out on each wing. Doing the best I could, I submerged and ran in at highest speed to achieve a firing position. In tubes 1 and 4 I had electric torpedoes, in tubes 2 and 3, electrics. Due to the range of just over 4,000 meteres I fired only a salvo of two steam torpedoes, set at hightest speed, running depth 5 metres. Sadly, I saw one pass just astern of the carrier. I don't know what happened with the other one. The TF was oblivious of how closely they had escaped and sailed on into the darkness.

Here are some shots of my interception. I have some screenshots of the TF but they are too dark to be of much use.

To those people who have not yet encountered a taskforce, I say keep hunting. If you get a report and you are nearby, use your mapping tools to plot an interception course. Use your renown to purchase upgraded engines when you can and also the better hydrophones. Have a qualified PO manning that station when submerged.

Best of luck to all Kaleuns!

Thanks for your "French" compliment! I'm an amateur photographer, so in the game I try to take photos as I would with a real camera. I love exploring the unconventional, finding different perspectives and the like.

More to come as I sort them out and load them to Photobucket. Thanks to whoever it was who first suggested that to me. I like it so much I am considering paying for a premium account, as soon as Wifey loosens my allowance. I've blown it here lately with hardware upgrades.
