Okay, in the X-Pack we were promised a 'new voiceover by David Ogden Stiers'.
In Uru Prime, Stiers was the voice of Zandi. If you look at the credits for the X-Pack, Stiers is again credited as playing Zandi. However, the only voice I've come across is that of Dr Watson.
Does Zandi appear in the X-Pack, but I've just not seen him? Or does Stiers actually provide the voice of Watson and they've mis-credited him?

That one. It's an odd thing to miscredit, though, although they possibly just used the Prime credits as the base and forgot to change that.

I thought the voice was Zandi's, even though it was kinda wierd to hear him talking about DRC stuff.

I almost thought that Dr. Watson and Zandi were twins seperated at birth. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif
Then I realized that they were both voiced by the same actor.

Yeah, I was wondering about the voice too. I heard DOS talking, and I thought it was Zandi. Then I thought it sounded a little... well, wimpy to be Zandi. Being Dr. Watson makes sense to me.
I think that speech would've been better if there was a Yeesha-style hologram of Dr. Watson. There could also be another hologram (a poor, fuzzy one) for the Bevin speech.

I should ask for clarification on this, because yeah... it seems like it's supposed to be Watson talking, but it's credited as Zandi in the credits, and like Hydro said, it'd be an odd thing to mis-credit.

You ever notice how you never see Zandi and Dr. Watson together? Hmmmmmm.
Of course I've never seen a badger eating mushrooms in Bevin either.
Still....

What? I thought that was Zandi?
Why didn't they get Dr. Watson to do the voice of Dr. Watson? Dr. Watson IS supposed to be RAWA isnt he? (Richard Watson)

Heh,
Let me try to explain this:
Rand Miller plays Atrus
Richard 'RAWA' Watson plays Dr. Watson
They are characters, Atrus and Dr. Watson
They are modeled physically after their human counterparts, but the characters are totally different.

And now, to further confuse the issue...
While Dr. Watson is only a character played by RAWA, I hear that Rand Miller actually appeared in Uru Live beta as himself...that is, as a game developer who based a successful series of computer games on the D'ni civilization. Confused yet? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I just have to ask, forgive me, I haven't exactly been keeping up, but I played through xp1 and the only voice I recall was from the blue button in the "town hall" of Bevin. Are you discussing a different voice from the xp?

I believe thats the one in question Urudeius.
While I was listening to it, I thought "zandi", (he's a laid back kinda dude). The speech for me was way to 'informal', sorta reminded me of an absent minded professor who forgot he had a speaking engagement or one who was 'coaxed' into it by his peers. I sorta imagine Dr Watson as being capable of providing a bit more of a more formal speech (I think he should at least have been better prepared than the speaker we heard.)
But with the occasional 'hiccup' in the speech patterns, I was never 100% convince it was Zandi.

It did sound like David in the speech but it also didn't. The few Movies i've seen with him in it, Mash, Dead Zone and guest appearing on other shows he always seem to have a slightly different sound. Could be him but 100 percent? Not even close. It does sound like Zandi alot though. Given his umfamiliarity with the DRC and how things really worked it fit sorta http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I may be mistaken, (usually I am), but, I believe the post directly after your original post is your answer.
TheRealMarlboro may have refered to UruDeius, and not you, by mistake.
My observation.

johnfchandler said that RAWA (Richard A Watson) plays Dr. Watson. But doesn't David Ogden Stiers play Dr. Watson?
I always thought that Dr. Watson (the character) was supposed to be the D'ni Historian working for a company named Cyan who then decided to work with the DRC on opening up D'ni.
I didn't realise that Dr. Watson was a mostly fictional character, I thought he was actually supposed to be Richard A. Watson.
Obviously Rand Miller and Atrus are not supposed to be the same person.
And yes Rand Miller did apparently appear in the Prologue as himself.

Have you made it to the second Hood in the XP? If so, then there is a blue button in the same place as the Bevin Hood. Press it.

Well, I pressed the blue button in both Community rooms and I can't hear a single word.
Am I missing something?
I already completed XP1, but from what I read here this is not necessary.
And I remember I didn't manage to make this blue button "function" before I finished too.
Any hint, please?

No... just walk down to the podium, front and center, and press the button on the podium...
You're not getting any speeches... D'Ni or English?
Hmm.

Seriously, I donâ´t have my tree in Relto, like others, so it can be something similar happenning to my vault.dat
Nobody had this problem?
I'm starting a new game from scratch and see if I can get to hear both speeches. I'm assuming you don't have to do anything to be able to hear them nor ending the game.
Any suggestions, I'd appreciate.

Here is an interesting thought. Maybe it was Zandi on Kirel, but before Yeesha got ahold of him, mellowed him out and converted him to "her side".
The voice was Zandi (Stiers), no doubt about it. And I don't think that the boys at Cyan would have allowed that a goof up like that.
I listened to the speech again and there was no mention of who the speaker is, no intro whatsoever.
hmmmm...

I listend to the speech again last night and noted that the speaker (whoever it is) is in Tokotah, giving a speech to "all Neighborhoods".
The speaker seems to have authority in the DRC, so, naturally, I would think Watson. Does Zandi have any authority? I know that it's his land in the Cleft area, but does have a position in the DRC?
Maybe Mr. Stiers was hired to do multiple voices for Uru. Granted it's only one speech, but the speaker sounds a bit more... stiff. Zandi's sound bites sound a bit more laid back.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the only evidence we have to think that the Kirel recording is Dr. Watson was from an audio file name, right?
IMHO as a voice over actor, I think if Mr. Ogden Stiers would have been directed to sound like two different people we would have heard two distinct voices.
Remember - Jeff Zandi led explorers to the Cavern too. The DRC were not the only ones letting people in. The only confusing bit is that in the Kirel recording the speaker refers to "Victor" and that would seem to be Laxman who I don't remember as being a Zandi supporter. Victor was not, as I recall, an FOZ [Friend Of Zandi]
So why would Victor be at a gathering of unauthorized explorers who are being addressed by Jeff Zandi? Perhaps there's a lot we don't know yet.
