With the SV air radar, does it also detect surface ships? When I'm submerged and raise my air radar, which is now a rotating dish, I also get surface contacts.

Also, since I took the SV air and SJ-1 surface, I'm concerned the enemy can read my surface transmissions. I can turn my normal surface radar off, but still get surface contact
reports. Can the enemy pick up my surface transmission?

There seems no way to cut off whatever radar is detecting surface targets..which would be fine if they're not picking up the transmission. I ssume it's the SV air picking up surface targets since they pop up when I raise the air radar.

I love the APR-1/APR-1. I assume it put's out no transmission and only detects enemy radar.

Also, when I raise the antenna it states "raising SD", but I have SV......

The answer is:

"No"

and

"I should have labled that, "Raising Air Search Radar Antenna". The message there is static and universal. It would display the same thing regardless of what radar you have mounted for air search, I just didn't have the foresight where the SV is concerned.

Are you saying, "taht would be nice," or are you telling me to be nice? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

The thing is, i don't think you can shut off the air search radar. So you'd have a homing becon on your boat every waking moment on the surface.

Speaking to you, you should know I meant

Be nice http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Does' not the SV radar make you a homing beacon anyway, since you can't cut it off.
