View Full Version : Stun from Behind, should it be a guarantee?

Am I the only one that think that if I'm pulling off a stun from behind my pursuer, they shouldn't be able to counter?
I'm all for the kill action overpowering the stun action, but if I'm behind them and am able to pull off the stun they've obviously not paid enough attention and should suffer the stun for it. Thoughts?

Definately not the only one thinking it.
"oh I just felt someone judo chop me on either side of my neck. Guess I'll just flip em over my shoulder instead of falling down."
Just doesn't seem right to me.

Na. Just make it harder to counter. Or maybe stun from behind in low profile always stuns.

I agree. I can't tell you how many times either me or a teammate has said wtf to getting judo thrown.

It's already really hard to counter from behind.
Literally the only times I've landed it are when I KNOW my target's trying for the stun and KNOW I'm either locked on or out of reach of any NPCs I might accidentally kill.
Beyond that it never works.
If they get you with that, 99% of the time, they get you because they saw it coming.

Firecracker + stun isn't a good tactic. There's a reason for that.

Never works for me.
However, if my target throws them, I usually get stunned even though I'm spamming square and aiming the direction I last saw them. That could be me though.

When they try doing it to me, it never works.
When I use firecrackers on defense, I throw them and run on an angle away from the pursuer - because they always head straight for where I was.
Most people who land the stun like that do so because they get move to the side of behind before stunning, and the behind-stun has a MUCH tighter window for the counter. If you're walking forwards and trying to assassinate, though, you can't counter the stun from behind - only if you're stopped.

I think you should.
1 Because its much harder to pull off
2.The assassin shouldnt be that close to he's pursuer with he's back turned and without knowing for sure who they are.
For me its the lack of skill of the assassin and it should be treated that way with a nice stun.

Except if you stand facing a morphed group you KNOW your target's not in and wait for him to "sneakily" approach from behind to try and stun you.
Setting up to counter a stun from behind takes work too, or luck. Just like landing a stun from in front on an alert attacker is sometimes possible when you get lucky.

Then sit on a bench, climb on a roof, get in a blend yourself, change a target or be more stealthy on youre approach.
If youre target has set you up like that then good for them and well played.

Except when you've seen through it and want to use your own obviousness as bait.
It's called a bluff.

If its a bluff its not a very good one. No NPC stands by them selves like that and the target will be hearing the whisper so he knows youre there. Any good defender will know its you.

They've obviously hidden well if they're near, but not in a morphed group. But if you know they're not in the group, standing facing it makes you look like an indecisive idiot.
When you're NOT being indecisive, and ARE waiting for them to expose themselves, it's a good bluff.
I've seen players set up morphed groups and hide nearby so they can come and stun from behind.

I don't think it should be a guarantee. Very often I am locked onto the person who I have as a target but I turn my back to them to make them feel more comfortable. It is a mind game so they think they are safe and come right up behind me and go for the stun when in fact I'm locked onto them the whole time. This isn't a first person game. Just because the characters back is to you doesn't mean the opponents camera is facing that way at all.

I disagree. It's definetly easy enough to be able to quickly turn around and press X.

Well, in fact, that is exactly what he's up to. he wants the defender to try and stun them, as the attempt is a give-away. As soon as he tries this person will assassinate him

Personally, never had a successful stun-from-behind. ****es me off quite a bit. I'm thinking there is like a half second window of opportunity for the pursuer to be able to counter, even when the stun is in progress, so 99% of the time, you'll always get thrown down.
Another annoying thing...running through smoke bombs and still successfully being assassinated.
