Love the trailer and can't wait for this game. I assume that as in SH3 there will be an option for German speaking crew? Sounds wrong with english/us accents!

I agree. The crew should speak german, but I think we don't have to worry. In the Q&A in the stickies, the question has been asked and answered like this:
"Just like in SH3 can you set the audible voice language to be german while the text be english? I loved that immersive feeling.
We agree it was very immersive and plan to provide same option for SH5 too."
So, it looks good http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yeah that was always an option. Although I must admit that since I don't speak German I have always used English option so when the crew says something I am able to understand without looking at subtitles. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

As a Brit it was counterimmersive to hear American-accented English voices in a German submarine in SH3. I suppose that it doesn't sound strange to American listeners, because when they hear the voiceactors they get the message "I'm in a boat full of people from my country", which is good, that's what a Kriegsmarine captain would be thinking. But for English-speaking people anywhere else, they get the message "I'm in a boat full of Americans", which breaks immersion, because Americans didn't crew U-boats!
I wish they'd use German-accented English for the English-language voiceacting. Then everyone would get the message "I'm in a boat full of Germans", which is good!

Surelly it is understandable that non-german speaking people would have a problem with a german speaking crew, but for all the rest of us who do speak and understand the language, it's annoying palying a game being a WWII German u-boat Kaleun and hearing English voices.
Personally I agree with the option given on SH3 - English text / German voices, it's a huge add-on on the reallity of the game. One reason I never liked the wolfpack patch on SH4 was the lack of this German voices option...
So, good job if the decission is for an option like SH3 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

I would prefer german language with english text, or english language in a german accent at least. But please do not lets have the Germans saying things that no German would have said at that time. The script in the trailer was a real turn off for me. It was bad enough having American accents but to have American script too is insane.

Holy cow - I hope to God they have real German actors doing the voices...that trailer was awesome except for the American (and I heard southern!) accents of the German crew...perhaps they may want to redo the trailer when it's closer to release time to avoid the "WTF" reactions listening to the crew! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Funny thing is that in SHIV I could swear I hear the voice of Joe from the Family Guy.

Very well said. When I heard them in English the first time my jaw hit the floor. I quickly changed it to German.

I agree 100% and I am an American. Straight out English really does spoil it.

I wouldn't mind the American accent too much if was a generic one, but you can hear the one guy in the trailer speaking in a southern accent and it was completely awful. I'm very glad they're including an option for German.
