The comments are interesting, everyone seems to associate great graphics with poor game play and a short single player mode that finishes in a few hours.

Those graphics are quite something. Bordering on photo-realistic cinematic. Perhaps this sort of look is what Oleg's been hinting at with the SoW engine in DX10/11. Anyway, impressive looking.

Heh, yeah. BF:V was a noble try, but was problematic. I didn't like the "Modern Warfare" idea even when it was indy with BF1942 Desert Combat mod.

Airmail, I strongly suggest you try the old game Vietcong, Very atmospheric. Imagine a Huey flying over a terraced field in the Central Highlands with Deep Purple's rendition of Hey Joe in the background. Excellent game, a few bugs, yet truly a pearl among games.

I believe they were all in Dx-9 too... not even Dx10.. but Oleg said that we would be able to run SoW in Dx9, 10 or 11.

Y'know I have a copy of Vietcong that I bought used on Amazon a couple years ago, and it doesn't run on Vista (or I'm assuming on Windows 7) due to a bug where it thinks DX10 is a virus. If anyone wants it let me know, but you'd need XP.

I enjoyed "Vietcong" when it came out but the sequel sucked.

I was looking forwards to "Whirlwind over Vietnam" Huey sim but it was released about 1/3 finished....sucked.

I have to make do with "Wings over Vietnam". It's not brilliant but its better than nothing.

Definitely overdue to "get my @ss in the grass"
