Oh man.
Forced segregation.
I wonder if this game will be intelligent enough to allow people to host games where PEC can be fully unlocked (everyone has access to fully upgraded weapons) or (everyone is limited to initial tech levels).
Why do developers think everyone enjoys segregated content? There are gamers out there who want the playing field to be level, but skill to make the difference.

it doesnt sound that bad. i like how you can customize your appearance and how you can upgrade your weapons.

I have no problem customizing appearances; those are what we call cosmetic. In fact, cosmetic customization is fine by me because it does promote a unique look (AS LONG as your silhouette does not betray one's eyes at range)
In other words if a Spy could get gear that made him look like a Merc from any distance, I wouldn't like that.
My problem is when gear gets updated and forces an ability difference between players. It don't matter if I'm the one with all the goodies and some newbie came into my server; it wouldn't be fair to him unless I was restricted to level 1 stuff or he was allowed to have the same tools at his disposal as I had.
I have nothing against those who like segregated content, but PLEASE give us an option to host/filter servers that disable PEC content.

Well, when you have the same devs in the SC series ready to ruin it that ruined the Rainbow Six series, you should expect some overlap of crappiness.

I for one am glad they are adopting this PEC system, like the one from Rainbow Six Vegas. I know this isn't a shooter but in R6V it made the multiplayer that much more enjoyable earning things the more you leveled up. It didn't make the game unbalanced either, in fact I'de say some of the weapons that everyone got were far and away better.
I'm glad their going this route.
