Let me emphasize first that the Myst V demo ran flawlessly on my PC. I've already completed it.

But curiosity got the better of me, and on a whim I re-launched the demo, ran all the graphics settings up to max, and started again to see what would happen.

I found out. POW. BSOD.

My PC's fine, but I would like to get back into the demo for some sight-seeing, etc. And if it's retained the fatal settings I gave it, I'm afraid I'll torpedo my computer again. Is there any way I can get into the settings outside the game itself and change them, allowing me to safely launch it?

Thanks! I'll know better next time.

One easy answer is to just toss this demo and download it again. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Good luck with it.

Yeah, true. It's not like it saved my progress or anything...

Yeah, you can re-install the demo.

Or, try the following:
-- a. Go to \Program Files\Ubisoft\Cyan Worlds\Myst V Demo\init and rename graphics.ini to something like OLD_graphics.ini.
-- b. Start the demo with eoa.exe instead of MystVDemo.exe (Start > Run > Browse to \Program Files\Ubisoft\Cyan Worlds\Myst V Demo\eoa.exe > Double-click to put eoa.exe in the Open: box > OK).

The demo will start with defaults and write a new graphics.ini.
