Hi. I have an HP Pavilion 4540, 433mhz, 192mb ram, 64mb 2x/4x AGP Ati Radeon 7000. So far, I love Il-2, but I would really love to achieve a balance between game performace and graphics. I am currently running the game with the directx ati radeon setting, at 800x600x16. Just because I have a Radeon, does it mean this setting optimizes the video for my 7000? Right now, the graphics look decent, but one thing that I don't like is the quality of the graphics when my altitude is less than 200. When I get really close to the trees, they look terrible (I crashed into them several times, and they look nothing like trees). Also, the airport is distorted.

The texture quality is at 100%, and when I set it at 50%, the outside setup program automatically gets off the ati radeon setting and changes to the custom setting... In my case, should I use bilinear or trilinear graphics?

Anyone have any ideas how I can make the game look better and still have decent performance (w/little or no lag)? Any help greatly appreciated...

P.S. Does anyone know any websites that tell you all about the settings and how to tweak them?

Well, the first thing you probably need to do is post your dxdiag. There's a sticky at the top of the page to give you instructions on how to do this. Once it is posted, some of the smarter m8's will have some suggestions and advice to give you to help you get the sim to play a bit better for you. The first thing I notice is your ram is real low. I know you probably didn't come here for someone to tell you you need to spend $$$ to get the sim to play well, but ram is very important to smooth gameplay. You should find out the max your motherboard can handle and consider making that investment. So post your dxdiag and hoipefully there are some tweaks you can do that doesn't cost anything that will help your gameplay. BTW, welcome to the community.

Read Luckyboy's Guide For Complete Users for a fairly complete and plainly worded explaination of what you need to do.
