IIRC the same as the guy in the mainmenu fighting the Devil. Basically the current Inquisitor minus the helmet.

From the screenshots I saw he was tottaly bald. It looked very bad'a** to me. The one with helmet isn't very appealing. I mean, that helmet does not look good in that holy tunic.

Honestly, I don't think the new Inquisitor is that bad... He looks more like the tough unit that he is now with the super golden helmet than a bald old guy =P. I mean, bald old guys don't look like they have 80 hp. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I think other mods are more pressing, like the gargoyle mods and fixing some of the bugs in the game.

I never understood the reason for the Helmet... Its like adding a Steel Helmet on a Monk...

Also, anyone notice how the Helmet looks like the NWN Metal Helmet?

I think there were probably at least 4 versions:

1. bald
2. bald with golden halo
3. helmet in the demo
4. hat/helmet

I like #1 the most and I would prefer to call it Cleric and his damage is a bit too low, make it at least 10-15. Archliches have area effect and deal a lot more damage and have higher attack and defense value and more mana.

And Priests' blue hood is too feminine.

Adi.. I made a short look on your mod.. Some things are made wrong (Gamemechanics folder)..and some things were missing(bin folders)..but You done GOOD job.. I fixed errors in your mod.

I'd like the halo version as well. Change the name back to Cleric too, Inquisitor has such a menacing sound to it.

Not really,
First it should be .pak file. It's not that hard to make, the format is a ZIP-file with Store as compression level. I am not going to overwrite the default game files with some others.
Secondly you missed an instance of "Inquisitor" in the description.

That's not what I meant, I wanted it to be packed in an individual archive instead of having to overwrite the existing data. Like the Treant-mod and others.

Look at your second screenshot with the description, at the beginning of the fifth line. "Inquisitors do not enter the melee,"

Third pack this and rename to cleric.pak.It's too hard to do??
I already tried converting the contents to a .pak-file but it didn't work. I don't know much about modding Heroes 5 but some things are suspicious like GameMechanics\GameMechanics\

...and question: can i extract all 4 packages and make one package from all of them (even if they originally belong to different pak files - data and texts)?

I was going to package this with the name change mod into one .pak file for everyone but I cannot get the Cleric model part to work. Has anyone else gotten this to work and if so what changes did you make?

Yes, there has to be some problems with it. I downloaded the fixed .zip file, deleted the extra GameMechnanics directory, repackaged it with the text files changed as a .pak ready for upload but the model does not change from the old Inquisitor. The text changes were fine.

I unpacked the rar, packed again in a zip, renamed it to pak, put it into the data folder. But nope it does not work. What do you do to get it work?

theGryphn: I'm using Firefox and I have no problem using Mega Upload. Try checking your extensions.

Pity Ubi had the sadistic pleasure of not delievering what we want in the final product (in spite of the fact that they KNEW we'll hate it), so that we bang our heads to do ourselves what is needed to make the game enjoyable enough.

As I've been away for 2 weeks now and I have no idea what happened meanwhile, can you tell me if there were mods done to fix the Treant, the icons in the Construct interface, the War Machines, the Necro in general a.s.o.? I'll have a look around myself, but just in case these mods are on other forums, could you guys give me a link? Thanks.

For testing purpose i am using sfidanza modified mahiir map: http://rapidshare.de/files/22100954/Maahir_tweaked.pak.html (put pak file into data folder and start mahiir scenario)
Anybody can just change creature in mahiir army and cretures, which stand in front of castle..

and about 2 gamemechanics folders I didn' know .. I'll check it..but I think..if this works, why to change it..

Excellent work everyone! I was thinking though, if we're making name changes should we change all the names too? Like Conscript to Militiaman. Might be a bit excessive though.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the word "Conscript", but if anyone is bothered, I wouldn't care if they change it back to Militiaman. It's the same for me.

I kinow I'm coming here after the fight is won (well, not completely), but I thought I should add some explanations:
- About "metallic head": that comes from loading a previously saved game (saved without the mod). The new geometry and skeleton are used, but not the new texture, explaining the helmet kind of appearing here. I'll continue trying to fix that. However, it will disappear as soon as you go to the next scenario.

- About GameMechanics/GameMechanics: it was in the original zip file. It is of course a mistake, which I didn't even notice. Actually, that CreatureVisual file in there is not really needed (it's the same as the original) that's why it works. I let it here only in case the orignal gets changed in the patch. Of course, the folder has to be fixed.

- on the halo: that's something I can't understand!! I tried to make it appear in combat as it does on advmap, without success... If someone finds it, please, tell me.

- On text changes: of course, I like Cleric much more than Inquisitor, however, making that change in the same .pak is ignoring localization: everyone will have the english text, whatever language they're using. That's why I'll offer two files on AoH for that mod, but of course, merging them is the way to go.

- Finally, a short technical note on how a simple zip package did not work: that's because some original files won't get replaced by the new ones (bin resources, .xdb texture files...). So I had to do some renaming. Problem is that new games and saved games do not use the same entry points, and have the same rules regarding file priorities. Hence the behavior discrepancy. Again, I'll try to make that work.
