I just wanted to know what graphics card you guys are using and the kind of performance you get in sh3, because I'm looking to buy a new card, not a too expensive one but one that would give me good performance in sh3 (i need to replace my Radeon x300 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif )<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I run SH3 with a 7600GT, 16x AF + 4x AA.
It copes with GW mod at more than 50FPS on average. Massive explosions are the only cases for a serious slowdown... still way better than the 6600GT!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I run with a PCI-E Geforce 6600GT with 256MB RAM. prestations good, but not excellent.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

x1900 GT
No doubts that it should do the job http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have an overclocked Geforce 7800GT. Even at stock speeds it will run SH3 without raising a sweat.
The first question is whether your existing video card is AGP or PCIe? The number of good AGP cards is diminishing, although either the 7600GS or the slightly more expensive 7600GT do come in AGP and will run SH3 fine.
The second question is what is "not too expensive"? We're not mind readers. What is your system and your budget?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I use the XFX 7600 GS Pci Express, and it is a very good card. It has passive cooling, which suits my ailing power supply just nicely.

Graphics interface is PCI-E and my defininition of "not too expensive" is 100-275 USD
Current system set up is: Intel Pentium D 805 2.66ghtz (soon to be OC'd to 4.0ghtz), ATi Radeon x300 128mb PCI-E, 1gb RAM, 450w PSU (no PCI-E connector, so this will change) Windows XP Pro SP1<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I recently upgraded to an ATI x1600.
I play at 1280 X 1024
The game is much faster in port. The game doesn't stutter when I shoot down a plane or a ship blows up. The Type II doesn't studder when in the control room. (I have some mods that increase the detail.)
I didn't have full choice over what card I would get, the X1600 was on sale.
Not that I am unhappy with this card. It is sweet.
I would recomend getting at least the X1600 if you are going to stay with ATI.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I run the ASUS NVIDIA 7900GT TOP which has been factory overclocked.
It runs SH3 at 1280x1024 res with excellent results, and frame rates are excellent.
I have recently bought Company of Heroes and the game runs very well too but at a lower resolution, this is one of the first games catered for the new Vista OS and dual core CPUS although the present single cores are good enough. It is the first game I have seen that likes to have 2GB of RAM - an upgrade is in the offering then http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have no PCI-E connector on my PSU either, that is why I went for passive cooling. The 7600 GS gets all its power from the PCI-E slot.

7900 GT from XFX 256MB Dual DVI (PCIE)
You can not beat the warranty XFX gives with their cards... I had one card go whacky on me, but they never gave me any flak -- as a matter of fact they upgraged my card to a better one instead (my 6600 to 6800GT).
Sadly, it was obsolete the minute it shipped, but so far I can't complain. SH3, IL2+PF all maxed out with extra anti-aliasing settings and it never choked (paired with an AMD X2).

I'm using a GeForce 7950 GT OC 512 MB card, giving the game a new dimension, and no more problems with TGW.

The PCIe 7600GT goes for around US$150-$200. If you want to stretch a bit you can get a 7900GT for around US$240-$290. Bearing in mind the first DX10 cards will be launched in November you may be better off with a "good enough" card now if you plan on upgrading again in a year or so.
My opinion of ATI isn't fit for a family forum. There is good reason Nvidia was twice the size of ATI when AMD bought ATI. For years Nvidia has provided more bang per price point and ATI's drivers suck bilge water.

If you've run out of Molex connectors (most PCIe cards will come with a Y-cable that spilces two Molex connectors into a single PCIe connector) and you need a new PSU bear in mind that its real 12v capacity matters far more than any nominal total wattage.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

My current setup includes a Asus A8R-32 MVP Deluxe motherboard in a Crossfire setup containing two HIS x1900 (512 mb) video cards. I'm also using a AMD X2 4800+ and 2x1gb of memory. All settings on my cards are maxed, of course.
