Sorry Hangtown, but your predecessor was excited about GR2PC.

Not to knock you or anything, but is the very same identical thing (except for the number) that we have been told by CM's for well over 1 year now. Look what it got us ...

It has been over a year now since the big hype of the next "big thing" in the PC Ghost Recon world. We have been put off and put off and put off.

It's taken that length of time to tell us 2 things that had any substance.

GR2 for PC canceled.

And an unknown company is making GR3 for you PC guys. Hang, Razz even you guys have to see where the frustration is.

The only things we are seeing is console information We saw the stuff for GR2 and obviously didn't like it a bit. Now, we see the same stuff basicly for GR3. Dang, it would seem to even me that a simple solution would be to get us some sort of PC specific info. Like I said it can't be that hard.

Good post Dago. We are getting a feeling of deja vu. I am apprehending the day we may hear that GR3 pc has been pushed back to Q1 2006. Not only GR2, look what happened to R6 Lockdown. All RSE games are treating the pc players as the stepchildren of stepchildren. We are not even entitled to bits and pieces while the console gamers are having a 7 course dinner.. Whenever there is any shortage of developers or time, it is the pc version that is being cancelled or pushed back.

Nevertheless, there's a lot of whining going on and people just keeps repeating themselves here. I think it's starting to get kind of boring. I don't mean to be rude to anyone. Everyone should, of course, be able to speak their mind but you just don't have to write the same message in every thread.

GR2 PC got cancelled and we're all equally angry and sad for that. And we got screwed by Ubi. But we have to leave that behind. This is GR3. And this is a new developer. And it's not likely (although the risk always exists) that we'll be screwed again. I don't think any company, not even Ubi, can afford to do that blunder twice. They probably lost a lot of money cancelling GR2 PC and now hopes to get them back with GR3. Let's all hope for the best.

Read my open letter to Ubi. They have canceled 3 games in the last 4 years at least, 2 of which were for the PC. The precedent has been set, but canceling 2 games from the series could be detrimental to their well being.

GR2 for PC would not figure into that sales report. For all intents and purposes, GR2 for PC was on schedule for a late Q2/early Q3 release as GR3 for PC. They even admitted it. I would say most of the PC figures are from SC:PT, and Pacific Fighters along with the Aces Expansion Pack for FB and Lock On. Those were the big PC releases for Ubi over the FY2004/2005. Strange that PC sales accounted for 1/4 of all sales. Those games for the most part, are marketed towards niche gamers.

Seems to me, losing a quarter of their market would be a substantial hit to their bottom line.

Well, we're all niche gamers, really. Just different niches. It's not like gamers stay only in one niche anyway. Except for a few of us. GR is the only game that's touched my harddrive since it came out (xmas 2001?).
