Not much to say, using the newest Omega drivers (tried with an older version too) and the game crashes when the menu is about to show.

I have no other problems with my computer, just this game.

This is the same problem that Heroes 4 had, i bought it and couldn't play it untill they released the first patch for the game. So i recommend you to wait and buy heroes 5 until they released a patch or two.

Thanks for replying.
Funny thing is that a friend of mine pretty much has the same computer but with a Radeon 9800 PRO 128mb instead of 256mb and he is using a very old version of Omega Drivers, but he can actually run it.

I guess that I could try using the same drivers but I don't really feel like downgrading my drivers that much.
You'd think that the new drivers would be as good.

Just a quick question.. With what filesystem is/are your harddisk(s) partitioned? I had a similar problem with Spellforce2 when i installed it on a FAT32 partition.. the problem disappeared when i installed it on a NTFS disk..

Yes its very strange since you almost go thte same card. But my friend have a X800XT PE as me but a diffrent brand and it works for him. The Heroes_5.exe contains these cards:

Unknown card, DX7 class hardware
Unknown card, ps.1.1 class hardware
Unknown card, ps.1.4 class hardware
Unknown card, ps.2.0 class hardware
Radeon 9800
Radeon 9700
Radeon 9600
Radeon 9600SE
Radeon 9500
Radeon 9200
Radeon 9100
Radeon 9000
Radeon 7X00
GeForce FX(5700/5800/5900/5950)
GeForce FX(5600)
GeForce FX(5700LE/5700VE)
GeForce FX(5200)
GeForce 4MX
GeForce 2MX
GeForce 4
GeForce 3
GeForce 2
GeForce 1

As you can see the X800XT card isnt on the list and some brands vill push the card to be a: Unknown card, ps.2.0 class hardware and the game will run. But my card cant make it a Unknown card, ps.2.0 class hardware and there for it crashes. I guess thats the same problem you have.

I already have the game installed on a NTFS disk.
Great of you to take an interest in my problem though, anyone else with possible solutions to my problem, just post them and I'll try them.

If you find a solution please tell me too, since they have hade this problem since the release of the demo and they have done nothing about it so far. The retail version vill be the same.

Okay so a friend of mine sent me his Profile, because I wanted to try changing stuff there and I didnt have one due to me crashing before getting into the game.

So I changed to Window mode and it seems like it worked, now I'm getting this new error. Also posted and possibly resolved here

grann2.dll (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4611096804/m/2051078144)

That pretty much just leaves me with one choice, to install SP2, which I wont.
I would if I were to completely fragment my computer, but everything else works...except Heroes.

To summerize, no Heroes of Might & Magic V for me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

I did it!
I installed SP2 and now it works!

note: perhaps add SP2 as required?
