Gents (and Ladies if there are any out there),
Do everyone a favor...make sure when you get to choose your faction, you pay attention to the percentage of players in each faction. I say this because if everyone (hypothetically) were to mainly join as the JSF faction...it is going to be extremely difficult to find matches if everyone is on the same team. You should see the 3 different factions on your screen when you start TOW...and the percentage of players that are in each. If 50% of the players are in one faction...then dont choose that faction...otherwise if you go to play against the other factions...there is a good chance you will not get a game without waiting a while. Most wars allow you to attack multiple territories...but, once the war gets going and you advance or lose territories...you may find yourselves not getting any games because there are not enough of the opposite faction to play against. Its not like WIC where you choose your faction before you go in and you get a quick match that will put you on a map to get a game. Once you choose your faction...it is your faction until you decide to "change battalions". If you change, you will lose any and all upgrades to the faction you are in. So, just a little pointer from a PS3 user soon to be a PC user. You can always change factions later...but, balance is key to the success of the game...and trust me...being anyone of the JSF, Euro, or SPG has their own benefits. You will have fun no matter who you play as. See you in game...hopefully!

Thanks, I always like to play as the underdog, but more important to me is the concept of the faction. Currently, I'm downloading the client from Steam, afterwich I will play the campaign. I'll remember your advice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Cheers!

At least play through Prelude to War to decide upon your favourite faction.

I'll definitely play some single player for a little bit to get the feel of things, but the Russians look like the faction that will suit me best as of now.
As for Theatre of War: The game should have something in place to balance things anyway. You can't expect the entire playerbase to do that. Ubi should have planned for this.

So, when it comes time for a player to choose his faction is that data even available. Can you see the percentage of players in each faction?

I'm 95% positive I'm going to have my clansmen choose EUROPEAN FEDERATION: ENFORCER CORPS. Also to dispel the myth that MAGOG is Russia because it isn't. They are wrong.

i was under the impression that number of players does not matter in case of conquest, since to pick up points you need to WIN.

Artillery - I agree...they should have figured on this. But, unfortunately...they did not. There is nothing to balance it out. I am thinking it is also because of the trophy situation that you will get if you win a war with each faction. But, even if that were the case...it is very frustrating trying to play when there are not enough players balanced on each side.
As for whether they tell you...the answer to that question (at least on the console)...is Yes. When you go thru the Prelude to War and are able to get to the TOW...you will see the three factions. You should see a % of players in each faction. UBI (at least when I joined the Russians on PS3) was giving an additonal 100,000 credits to join that faction. At the time, the russians had about 26% of the players, US had 46% and the Euros had 28%. So, the first war was easily being won by the US players. That was until a whole bunch of them jumped ship at turn 50 something...and brought the Russians back from 7 territories left to win.
Needless to say...just do your best in balancing it out. You will be happy if you do. More balance = more games + less waiting time in rooms. This is one of the most frustrating part of the game to date, at least to me. GL All!

Wait until end-of-month payday, and for people to receive their pre-order copy. You should see a decent increase in online population soon.

Ya, I played several solo missions last night then jumped into ToW. You can certainly tell that there aren't many people playing yet, but I didn't ever just sit and wait forever to get a game going. I hope as time goes by that more people will be on.

Are there enough people to continuously play? I mean, if I sit down and want to play game after game for hours - are there enough people?
We're not talking like there's 1 or 2 games going sporadically are we?

Well keep in mind that an RTS/RTT game will never have an online population like that of FPS games. I personally don't like FPS games, but they do tend to draw a larger crowd.
If EndWar gets 300+ players online at the same time then it will have done well.

I told you nobody was around though.
The surprising thing is that DoW2 needs a patch for the Pop Cap Bug, yet there are thousands playing that game right now.

At the present moment the Euro army is leading in population, second by the US, and Russia. Russia is giving a 1million credit bonus now XD I played through the prelude, but I'm not commited to any army yet on the ToW. I need time to think XD

I thought the 1 million credit bonus was only on the consoles?

Nope, you get a bonus when you join the least played army on the PC version as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I played the prelude and some single player scrims last night for about an hour. Ill be hoping on ToW later tonight. Also getting my friend to buy it off steam as well. Ill be playing either JSF or Spaznak. Also don't forget it doesn't hit retail stores till March 4th which is next Wednesday. So we'll defiantly see a lot more people next week as well.

I'm trying to get a game going (any kind of game) for over an hour. Just keep finding either nobody, or a teammate for 2v2 with no opponent. I mean, this is dead as dead gets.

i honestly dont understand this, game seems to be great, but yet there are just so many few people even on these boards. Compared to Total War right now, seems like nobody visits here.

Well, don't expect this game to have even a fraction of the players Empire:TW is going to have. I was saying it yesterday - Total War is easily going to outsell DoW2 and Endwar combined.
Besides: 5 days until Empire releases. This was not a good time for Ubi to release Endwar.
