Need Help in a level - !!!Spoiler!!!

All- I am on what I percieve to be the end of the Boat Level. I am on the tanker...I throw away my shotgun and pick up the rocket launcher..I have full health and armor from the room with the rocket launcher. I kill the guy on the front of the ship with the rocket launcher and kill the three remaining guys while retaining my health and armor. I then set the charge and run to the front of the ship. Then here comes the chopper. I have played this over and over. I shoot him with the guns, the rockets, till all ammo is gone. i have gone inside the ship...everything...What do I have to do to get past this? stuck on this level since saturday morning. Have done it about 50 times. tried swimming to the island even...nothing works.

Any help appreciated

i jump off the port bow, swim to that last big rock and hide in a backside cranny till i recover my stamina (blue). sometimes the heli comes (i've replayed for run some), sometimes no. i then slip back in water (under) and swim around the point (under until im running out of stamina). again sometimes the heli comes, sometimes no at this point as well. if not you can get on island go around grab health, arms, ammo, whatever (i used hummers) and attack from another spot. i've also grenade/rocketed him from the rock and point im trying to swim around. gotta be pretty good on the launchers for that to work (gotta be quick)..more relaxed with hummers. just don't give up the heli doesn't respond the same way everytime. i think im gaining some insight into the AI illusion by playing this way.

It took ages for me to beat also, over an hour.

Only let yourself become visible to the chopper when you are shooting something at it. Use the rocket or grenade launchers first - keep trying to improve accuracy so that you don't often miss. I always aimed in the direction that the chopper is about to reach, so that in the second or so that the rocket is flying through the air, the chopper never dodges the rockets but moves in front of the rocket's path.

And if you want to get rid of the time limit because of the ship sinking, the moment you have placed the bomb, jump off the ship and swim straight for the small fishing boat that is directly behind the main boat. You then have some cover that doesn't sink away, but you'll need to be careful cause the minigun's bullets will shoot through the wooden boat.
