His weapon looks more like a RPG-7 than say a Panzershreck...

Just a guess.

Judging by the distance from the target (the bad guys surrounding the Ark) and given the fact he is firing form an elevated position...he is looking through the wrong hole. He would have missed. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Seriously though. Did that weapon exist in the 30's? Is that what's wrong with the picture. I just gotta know http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

How about the fact that he got to that island in the first place.
How could he have stowed away on the sub without the Germans noticing him?
If he wasn't IN the sub, did he hang on to the sub and hold his breath till he got there?

If it's supposed to be a Panzerfaust, it wasn't actually invented then. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/disagree.gif

Come to think of it, the AfrikaKorps wasn't either.

And all good Nazis parted their hair to the right...

An RPG in the 30's. Come on. Even the bazooka wasn't created yet. Why don't they just make the plane a B-52 and the submarine a los angeles class. I can deal with the magic box and the illogical submarine sequence, but I hate anachronisms in stories. I thought if anybody could appreciate that it would be my fellow warbird nerds here.

All told, however, Raiders was tame compared to what they did in Indy 4.

I hear you on that one. They "must" make movies like Indy 4 (as opposed to how they used to make good movies) so that the new generation can get into it...they say.

Huggy, if that bugs you, consider this:

- The MP38/40's used in the movie are 2 and 4 years respectively out of place.
- The Walther P38 used by a number of characters in the movie is out of place as well - 2 years too early.
- The German WTF-wing-plane never existed.

And you're whining about a Ručnoj Protivotankovyi Granatomjėt... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

His "Gig Line" is off.

Seriously though, George Lucas is a fairly bright guy. Why would he have placed "props/weapons" in the movie that didn't exist in the timeframe the movie was made?

I can deal with the crazy wing plane. B+V had several crazy designs similar to that, so I kind of let that slide. It sure was neat looking.

That's true about the mp40s, and I didn't catch the walthers use. I did notice that they had MG34s for machine guns. At least they got that right. I'm surprised they didn't have MG42s for the coolness factor, or, keeping with the Soviet RPG theme, AK-47s.

Ya know, I sit down to watch this movie for the first time in decades. I was introducing my 6 year old to the world of indiana jones and they have these terrible anachronisms in it. Ruined the movie for her. She barely slept last night; kept mumbling about .50 cal convergence settings and fw-190 canopies. I'm afraid after watching IL2 and then this movie she was just pushed too far. Would somebody please think about the children!

NO WAY!!! That is AWESOME!!!
That is one cool looking plane.
Since I saw the movie in the theatre all those decades ago http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif , I always wondered what the armament was. There would be a $h!tload of room in the wings for guns and ammo.

Speaking of the guns, when Indy is fighting that Big Dude, at one point he runs under the wing and grabs a hold of one of the wing guns. The barrel bends while he is holding it. I always thought that was funny. The WTF Wing Plane mock up was built about as good as those Hollywood banisters that wiggle everytime someone touches it.

Monocle on.

Ah, judging by the thick wings, and extensive surface area, the two small diameter, thrrree bladed propellors, this shameful waste would never generate sufficient thrrrust for flight, my good sir!

That plane would fit so well with Sea Dogs http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

They needed more What-if experimental projects in Indiana Jones, if you ask me.

AFAIK it was actually a parody of some late-war Arado designs, but a bit out of place in the 1930s, but quite good in a Crimson Skies / Sky Captain of Tomorrow context.

My thoughts as well. I've only seen one design like it in print before. There was an experimental plane called "The Locust" I believe. It was the object of Nazi spies and Saboteurs in an episode of "The Rocketeer" Comic Book in the 1980's. Looks quite familiar.
