What's with Desmond and Lucy using the same blade gauntlet that Altair and Ezio used? I can understand if the first Assassins passed down their gauntlets to their decendents, but that's the only reason I can think of. And even if that, why were there no upgrades at all made to them? You would think that someone would try to make them better. For example, Da Vinci made Ezio a gun in his gauntlet. So, by Desmonds time, shouldn't there be some sort of amazing kick *** blade gauntlet? But even though Ezio got a gun in his, nothing else down the line. I suppose that maybe Ezio dies and can't pass it down, but Brotherhood will tell us that. Maybe guns are illegal in 2012. Those guards that Vidic sent after Desmond and Lucy were using some kind of purple stick. Ideas on this topic?

well it's mostly about the tradition of the assassins to use a blade and be close and personal. Yes, improvements could be made on it, but what? a laser sight? That's just not necessary. The only upgrade I could think of would be a more accurate or lighter pistol which will probably happen. There's nothing to really upgrade on it...

and the guards were using knight sticks

and batons. That's because they needed Desmond alive for his genetic memories and the Animus. Also to interrogate where the other assassins are, they can't afford to lose him.

Don't worry about the accuracy on the gun, in the beta you can hit someone while theyre jumping from across the market place in rome, if not even further :/

Maybe the gauntlets Desmond and Lucy use are just recently recovered and there hasn't been an opportunity to upgrade them yet.

Well Ezio's original blade was destroyed during the siege (thus he now has two new ones) and I doubt that he'd give the apprentices access to poison and/or a firearm. So I'm just assuming that the blade Desmond used to escape was an ancient artifact taken from the corpse of an apprentice and not Ezio's, thus the lack of poison and firearms.

Hopefully when Desmond recieves the one he'll use throughout his adventure it'll be high-tech. Like a Pip-Boy per se.

I'm pretty sure that blade wasn't destroyed in the siege if you look where the cannon ball hit

Just because it isn't destroyed in the first 30 seconds doesn't mean it can't be destroyed by debris, more cannons, the invading army, or Borgia personally http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif there's gotta be a reason why Ezio would rather wear his new blades aside from them being shinier.

P.S. Just checked the video with the siege. Ezio definitely has his original hidden blade (with gun attachment as he uses it in the combo kills). It may have been broken when he fell off the building after being shot (at the end of the video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqZlioiBfSc))

@ jimbo_323 - Yeah, he does but you don't actually see the blades/vambraces (that I can remember anyway)

Edit - Just rewatched it, the left hidden blade/vambrace is either connected to his shirt or he straps it on in 3 seconds and you can't see his right one so I don't get how he shoots ppl
