View Full Version : Open Letter to Ubisoft

Dear Ubisoft,
I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but you're one of the biggest game companies of the world, who has millions of customers and thousands of professional colleagues.
Well, can you please tell me, how come can you publish a game which isn't working at all?
How come is it possible a game can be published even without checking if it's working at all, while working with thousands of professionals?
How come a famous and respected game company as you can publish an unoptimized game?
We all know you had time. You almost had 15 days while pre-orders last and you might even delay the deadline if necessary (like in this case).
Please tell me, did any of your professionals ever tested the game with a PC? And if yes, did they really tell "Yeah, it's really a good game with good FPS and everything. I think it is ready and playable without the need of any more optimisation."
What did their managers think?
God, you're publishing a game of the legendary game designer Eric Chahi! How in the world can you be that amateur, like you're doing this as a hobby?
And please tell me, what are the team and the managers of the game doing right now? Do they still think the game was ready to be published?
Do they think they deserve the money they earn? Can they have a good rest at home, thinking they did a good job? Can they buy their children toys, with the money we paid and they think they deserved?
Instead of apologising or even feeling "a little bit" unconfortable, you told us unblushingly "We've made a such a cool game, which is sooooo sensitive and fragile and discriminating, it chooses what computer it'll work. Oh god, how awesome guys we are!"
C'mon, this is year 2011...
There are games which has way much better graphics and configuration and everything, working even with a computer from 80's. This is what we call optimisation and we all know it can be done. We all know this $14 game can be optimised to work even in a browser.
So please Ubisoft, consider thinking about these and who you're working with.
Kisses and hugs,
lunchweek
PS: Dear Eric Chahi, this concept is so good, it could be the best game ever and it could be another legendary work of you, if it'd be done properly. It hurts me to see your name next to this ****.

ditto with the OP.
So who's responsible for a refund?
Steam are saying to contact UBISoft, UBIsoft are not responding?

Steam are saying to contact UBISoft, UBIsoft are not responding? You either contact the retailer - or failing that Ubisoft Support.
Please allow them time to reply.
If you wish to contact them directly via phone - details are on www.ubisoftgroup.com (http://www.ubisoftgroup.com) or here (http://www.ubi.com/US/Support/InternationalSupport.aspx)

I wonder, will Ubisoft answer all these complaints or will they continue to keep their silence and brag about From Dust selling very good?

Try sending your open letter to the president of UBIsoft, otherwise it's nothing more than characters on a screen

I can only agree with the op. I contacted support 24 hours ago, posted my dxdiag, dr watson and wrote of my problem. They havent even responded to my mail.
I would gladly sign this mail with my name.

I would like the management of Ubisoft to be aware that I will not purchase any Ubisoft game that has always online DRM. Purchasing From Dust was a mistake as I didn't know it has always online DRM. If I want to play on my laptop I will actually have to crack the game! The reason I buy software is because I don't support piracy - why is Ubisoft's DRM pushing me in this direction?
Are you able to pass that message on to someone who makes that kind of decision? If not, who should I try e-mailing? I'm not interested in a refund, I just want them to be aware of this when they decide how to proceed with future DRM implementations.

Pretty much same here, expect I want a refund if they don't patch this up. Such greedy people in the Ubisoft's lair. Greedy capitalists all the way and to top of that they seem to be lazy... I hope you have a good mood now and can pass this just like nothing happened.

Tack on the fact that it was marketed incorrectly. Here is the first "Key Feature" the game was marketed on:
"Ground-Breaking Technology
Play in the sandbox of one of the most advanced real-time nature simulations, where everything you see and interact with evolves dynamically, offering a constantly renewed experience."
I was looking forward to a great sandbox, and all I got were a bunch of stupid challenges tacked on to a very short and repeticious story.

So, this was a direct question, politely phrased, that was ignored. Should I interpret this silence as a message that Ubisoft does not want customer feedback? I realise that a community manager might not be in touch with management themselves but I would have at least appreciated a reply of, "No, there is no way for you to let Ubisoft know your position on always online DRM".

Please do not interpret the silence as anything more than the forum has been extremely busy and while we try we cannot always get to everyone’s post.
This kind of feedback is taken on board and we are aware of how many in the community feel about the always on requirement in the DRM.
This feedback has been passed on http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Dear ubisoft i have some ideas to bring a great strategy game back from the ashes and make it better than ever.
Ruse in my eyes is a pioneering game that should have a sequel because it is a game that makes the player feel more like a real military commander because in real life you wont always know the units that you are facing without recon, every unit has a strength and a weakness e.g the Siegfried blockhouse is good vs all ground targets but is weak against air units etc but there are many improvements that could be made to make this awesome game into one of the strategy gods like age of empires here is the list of improvements i would make.
1. Better graphics and unit detail this coupled with a greater zoom zooming in up to level to 3rd person level would and most probably could attract more buyers
2. All upgrade-able units stay when upgraded so you can choose weather to build the stronger upgrade units or their weaker predecessor.
3. Each nation has a 'ultimate weapon' for instance if ubisoft adds railroads to their maps the Germans can build the massive 'DORA' railway cannon or japan can from their airbase deploy the deadly ocha kamikaze rockets and so on
4. In idea no 3 i mentioned railroads and what i mean is that is that each nation can build railroads to wherever needed to speed up economy or transport infantry or tanks etc and that you can build roads so you can choose were to build a structure
5. Infantry could use an upgrade such as sniper squads or anti tank teams could ad variety to the small list of infantry in R.U.S.E
6. Some units should have a special ability such as for normal infantry they should be able to dig in and make foxholes or maybe for anti tank infantry they should be able to lay anti tank mines to deny armor to pass that area without receiving allot of damage
7. Units should have skill levels and what i mean by that is in real warfare battle-hardened units are more effective than newly created units
Best of luck
