Don't bother with it. Get the Radeon 9200 128Mb. It's around the same price and faster, esp in newer games. But if you really want to play in high detail and resolutions, you need a Radeon 9500 Pro or GeForce FX 5700.

dude, u need to spend some more money on the video cards, every game coming out is gonna be hardcore with graphics, so save ur *** up some more money, and buy a decent one, if u want gay nvidia, get atleast a fx5950, or a Radeon if you want to play DX9 games in true DX9

9200 doesnt have support for pixel and vertex shaders 2.0 so that means no dx9 support... get an ati 9500/9600/9700/9800
nvidia does have support for dx9 at least in paper but they force FP12 and FP16 and pixel and vertex shaders have to be forced to 1.1 and 1.4 so it can run at good frame rates thus making games dx8.1 not dx9 in real live.

dont listen to these dudes that constantly tell people to upgrade their vid cards...i have a 5200 and it runs great, even on very high settings, and i also have a 900 mhz ahtlon.so yeah it will run and it will run well on a 5200 and looking at all the problems people constantly have with ATI cards and games i'd stay away from them.

I have a 5200FX non-ultra...it runs but not at high detail (texture filtering to low)...though it's certainly playable...

A good deal on cards is the ATI 9600XT which I've seen for $150 which includes a coupon Half-Life 2...so if you were going to buy HL2 anyway, that's a really good $100 card.

Also, wait until FC, HL2, D3 come out at least another couple months...prices will be lower by then... and the 5200 will probably be obsolete.

i also like that you can sniper gays from long distance and laugh at them die. i like the way when u shoot them in the head a hole appears like in real life cos in some s.. hit games blood looks fake.

ok im going on a bit now but the point is gfx 5200 is fine but any lower than that and the graphics are so poor that game looks like its been made by a bunch of gay bum rape tossers. mention if u have gfmx upgrade to gffx its worth it

gffx5200 is forcing FP12 and FP16 and is even forcing billinear filtering maybe the game is using Pixel and Vertex Shaders 2.0 wich a 5200 will run very slow unless you put the settings on low... and putting the settings on low will make the pixels and vertex lighting (bumpmapping) look like #*$& and taking a lot of realism out so if you want a 5200 you will lose a lot in far cry and in other games and there are even games like HL2 that have to force Pixel and vertex shaders to 1.1 and 1.4 in order for it to at least run the game at an acceptable frame rate in other words this is not DX9 anymore its DX7 and DX8 and why buy this card if next gen games will be all DX9.. this same thing happends to all Nvidia products... even to the 5950 ultra. in doom3 its different since they use a different engine that is not FP sensitive... but you get the point
if you still want to buy this 3D cuz its cheap then try using the OpenGL instead of DX9 will run better that video card

now back to what you asked..
ok I would suggest you an Ati Radeon 9800 pro its around $250 nowdays
the 9600XT is around $169 and comes with an HL2 coupon nice deal but the 9800pro has 8pixel pipelines and 256 bit memory interface making it a lot better performer for next gen games..
still 9600XT is a good deal if your in a budget but actually the 9800 pro dropped a lot since the 9800XT came out so anyways you decide... just dont buy nvidia and im not a fanboy for ATI its just that a read a lot and see a lot and ATI has always had better IQ+Performance than Nvidia. Go check benchmarks and if you dont trust benchmarks then go check real in game performance and screenshots must of the time nvidia has missing effects (lights bla bla bla..) the efect is not the way de devs. wanted it to be... I cant believe nvidia chose forceware for their new driver's name, I mean its like saying Force Hardware with software cuz hardware itself wont make it.
